Anyone ever notice the signs Dolphins coaches put up every once in a while that read "Blue" or "Regular"? I keep waiting to see one that reads "Decaf" or something..

Anyway, Are the Dolphins' coaching staff the only one who uses that as a means of communicating with the team? And how exactly are those signs effective, wouldnt that seem to tip off the other team?

Its just the offensive personnel groupings. For instance Silver is "12" or 1 back, 2 TE. Green is "22". It is prevelant in college but not used very often in the NFL, the signage that is.

Great question... if only they showed a Dolphins game in my area so I could know what in the hell youre talking about... haha

Oh its for the offense? My bad..

Well, that pretty much explains it I suppose, This year is the first time Ive ever seen them used so I was a bit curious.

It's all just calls for different alignments, formations, etc. I'm sure they're changed regularly so as not to tip off the opponents.

The opponents' offensive groupings are relayed to the defense by Chad Walker, a personnel/coaching assistant. The offense uses the same verbage for the same packages but obviously they are not relayed using signs, just with players shuffling in and out.
