Who do you expect to be in the secondary in the Dolphins nickle package? Howard, Jones and Fitzpatrick are a lock. Based on the money the team gave McCain, I suspect they like him and will put him on the field. I know so expect to see a big nickle package with McDonald, Jones and Fitzpatrick with Howard at one corner, but where does that leave McCain in that set unless he wins a boundary corner role. For example if Tankersly and Howard are your boundary corners and you're starting Jones and Fitzpatrick at the safety spots, who joins them on third down McCain, McDonald or someone else?

Since they just extended McCain, there's only one answer: McCain.

Putting another safety out there has much more to do with the linebackers than it does with a 3rd cornerback.

I could also see a situation where Miami has 3 cbs and 3 safeties on the field at the same time and one linebacker. Use Reshad and McDonald near the LOS and have Minkah as the lone deep safety.

Burke has quite a few new toys to deploy. Fitzpatrick will have a great career, All Pro soon imo. Jerome Baker has elite speed and ability to diagnose and McMillan is even a better player than Baker. If we are predictable I'll freaking blow up! Stop the vanilla crap and lets put a defense in that is an attacking, aggressive style because suddenly, we have the horses for it. We also have Wake, Quinn and Harris rushing the passer! This should be a high scoring and high take away defense.

I agree with this. The question is how much playing time with McDonald get? His contract was extended so the front office/coaching staff obviously likes him.

I think when we have 3 safeties on the feild you see more quarters package than nickel. Where we have 1 LB 3 S and 3 CB. In a standard nickel a lot has to be seen in camp. Fitzpatrick has to earn the right to take TJ off the feild, and or give the staff a reason to move him to nickel and move Bobby outside. We also have to see how Tank and Lippett play, and who wins that battle. I would expect more snaps out of quarters this year than ever before.
