I was just watching the svek replay from sunseninel.com and they mentioned the positives of this season. one thing was chris chambers. they showed the stats before and after Nick Saban called his receivers "decent". have a looksie

Before decent: i beleive this was before the week 10 game vs NE, but not shure

30 rec 417 yds 3 TDs 8 games

After decent:

42 rec 575 yds 6 TDs 6 games

Do you attribute this to Saban for lighting a fire under his butt, or Chambers for taking his game to the next level? Either way I LOVE IT! We have a great target at WR finally.

I think getting comfortable in the offense and gaining timing with Gus also helped.

I have to believe that Saban did light a fire under his a$$. This is just reason number 3424232352524523 why Saban is the right man for the job

It sure seems like CC responded to the comments by Saban. He was also getting quite a bit of heat from the fans.

Just imagine how many more yds & td's Chris would have if he didn't drop so many balls!

i knew i couldnt talk about chambers without someone bringing in the drops issue

I think it was Saban's comment that pushed Chamber's to this new level. Dave W. always accept mediocrity and there was no reason for Chambers to push himself. When Saban said what he did, it opened up a whole new world for Chamber's and he was finally motivated. Let's just see if it continues.

I think is a combination of things....CC and the rest of the players know that he's not Wanny and they need to play to their max all the time.CC has always have the talent and now he's showing it and I hope it'll carry for the next few years.

Ozzy rules!!

Go Italy 2006 world cup

Combination of three things IMO:

1) Saban's comment after the Browns game that he'd be using the rest of the season to evaluate players;

2) Saban's "decent" comment a couple or three weeks prior, which basically told Chambers how he'd been evaluated by Saban to that point; and

3) Linehan's "Feed the Studs" mantra and his being on the sideline instead of upstairs in the booth, both of which have helped Chambers expand his game.

Reasons 1 and 2 gave Chambers a new mind-set. Reason 3 helped him put it into practice.

Nobody mentioned Chambers didnt drop a pass this week, but they can remember the negative from a few weeks ago.

For all the talk about Chambers here, it seems pretty clear that Booker has also done quite well for himself the past two games.

My definition of decent....is less than half of the threads on this site! :D

As far as Chambers, whatever it is....I hope it sticks through the offseason and he has continues next year.
