I know...everyone gets tired of the "what about this guy" thread. But this isn't some washed up has been...hes a rook who showed some definite flashes at Florida. Im not a huge fan of his toting the rock...and we already have Miller and Bush. BUT...he did seem to have some pretty good hands down at FL and his speed and short area burst could make him excellent out of the slot. Not to mention he is a huge home run threat as a return man. Any Gator fans who could shed some light on him?

Probably because he got smoked during his Olympic tryouts.. He was Second to last, oh btw the guy in last place was already hurt.

This is a guy that I actually LIKED in college and I would love to give him a shot. I think he's more of a tailback than Chris Rainey.

Seriously, we've only got 89 players after cutting Chad Johnson. What can it hurt?

He also got a silver medal in the actual olympics...

Now Now lets post the full context of that Silver Medal( 4X100)

On July 25, 2012, Demps was added to the 2012 U.S. Olympic roster as a member of the 4×100 meter relay pool, serving as a replacement for Mike Rodgers, who suffered a stress fracture in his left foot.[SUP][8][/SUP]. He raced the first leg of the preliminary second heat and helped the U.S. 4×100 relay team achieve a time of the 37.38 seconds, which was the fastest time of the preliminary round and broke a 20-year-old record American record.[SUP][9][/SUP] The team would go on to win a silver medal in the final round with Tyson Gay and Ryan Bailey instead of Demps and preliminary teammate Davis Patton, but as part of the team, Demps still received a medal.

Really, I live next to a die-hard gator fan that swears Rainey is a seriously under estimated Back. He absolutely hates Demps, says he has NO laterally agility only straight line speed. Concluding he would be a waste on any NFL roster.

One of the fastest dudes in the country. Even with pads on.

Kid is Q U I C K.

Punt returns and kickoffs...why not.

However, this kid has a small frame. No way could he be an every down back. He's not built like Ray Rice.

But this kid has elite NFL speed.

I'm a bigger fan of Rainy but Demps has some world class speed. I just do not see how he can fit considering the players we have.

I agree completely...but he would certainly help the return game...and I would like to see him line up in the slot and see what he can do from there.

What the **** have you ever done?

Absolutely Nothing! Your Point?

So...he helped his team get a silver medal...anyways I don't see how this is relevant to his status a football player. He is fast...and his speed plays well on the field

That was my point "he helped his team get a silver medal" not "he got a silver medal" behind Usain Bolt.

Only thing is, with the new rules the NFL is trying to eliminate the kickoff returns. They're negating potential home run threats such as Devin Hester.

So how much value does a guy like Jeff Demps have.

You can get nice returns on the punt team, but is it worth giving a full roster spot for?

Devin Hester can at least contribute in other areas whereas I'm not sure Demps can.
