Broncos DT Marcus Thomas was arrested early Saturday on a drug possession charge.
The drug was cocaine. Thomas was a top-15 talent last year, but fell all the way to the fourth round because of his checkered off-field history. We doubt he'll face a suspension, but it's a bad sign he's still making poor decisions. A lie detector test from Mike Shanahan may be forthcoming.

Looks like he hasn't learned his lesson from previous arrests. 4 game suspension coming???

Shanny don't play with thugs....he got rid of Kirkus (our new WR) for a lot less than this.

Less?? Didn't he have an assault charge???

Yeah Kirkus was at a party in Denver and punched a guy who was talking to a chick he was interested in....I would say this is less than a drug possession wouldn't you?

I think an arrest of possesion is lesser than assault charge.

They are usually both misdemeanors unless he was in possession of a lot of cocaine. Kirkus ended up taking a lie detector test as a result of his assault...I think the charges were dropped but Kirkus ended up getting waived anyway. I think Kirkus can be a decent player for us, but there is a lot of competition at WR.

They both can be very serious, we know that lol. I personally don't think Kircus makes the team unless he is a good special teamer.

Guy is a grade A moron. You think he would have learned his lesson at UF, but all he did was upgrade to harder drugs apparently.

Just don't understand why they put themselves in these positions.

Immaturity is the word to describe it. You would think they would relish their opportunities by succeeding in a big league and they go out and do this stuff. That's why I like players like Roy Williams of the Lions. He doesn't go out with the guys, he stays home and watches movies every day he has off. When he goes to the store, he looks for the cheapest things and if a pack of gum is overpriced, he will not pay for it. I read this information on Yahoo when they had an interview with him. Roy's a great and responsible guy.

Cocaine was not Thomas's

The Broncos released a statement on DT Marcus Thomas Monday, acknowledging that they're aware of his Saturday arrest for drug possession.
"The owner/operator of the vehicle has since admitted the cocaine was his and no cocaine was ever found on Marcus Thomas," the statement reads. "Within hours of his release, Marcus had a test which confirmed that there was no cocaine in his system. The Broncos are hopeful that no charges will be filed, and we are monitoring the situation as it goes forward.

Possession of any amount of cocaine is usually a felony-not a misdemeanor.

I too consider an assault charge to be a much lesser crime than possessing cocaine!!!

This guy is a total fool and looser for using illegal drugs!!! I hope Goddell and Shanny nail him on it. I also hope this guy gets away from drugs and puts his life back on the right track.
