The internal dissent in this forum is uncanny. To change things up, lets try and put a face to this roster, for better or for worse...

The following is assuming (hoping) we can sign O´Hara to man the middle of the line. Theres still a lit of tweaking to be done, but here it is...

QB (3)...Moore, Henne, Devlin
RB (4)...Thomas, Bush, Ronnie, Hilliard (FB)
FB (1)...Polite
WR (5)...Marshall, Bess, Hartline, Wallace, Gates
TE (2)...Fasano, Clay
OT (4)...Long, Carey, Colombo, Murtha
OG/C (6)...Incognito, Pouncey, Jerry, O´Hara, Berger, Garner

DE (5)...Langford, Starks, Odrick, McDaniel, Merling
NT (3)...Solai, Fields
OLB (4)...Wake. Misi, JT, Trusnick
ILB (4)...Dansby, Bunett, Edds, Spitler
CB (5)...Davis, Smith, W. Allen, Carroll, Ness
S (4)...Bell, Jones, CLemons, J. Wison

LS...Denney
K...Carpeneter
P...Fields

CUTS
QB...Brandstater
RB...Sheets
OL...Fienga, Kopa, Barbre, Marten, Jones
WR...M. Moore, Pruitt, Foster, Carter
TE...Epps, Schuler, Mastrud

DE...Rose
NT...Kearse, Jones
OLB...Spears, Rastelli
ILB...Dobbins, Rivera
CB...Sapp, Perez
S...Culver

PRACTICE SQUAD...WR Livas, RB Gigsby, OL Chisolm, CB Agnew, OLB Freeeny, TE Brackett

Anyone else thats eligible on our roster that can we stash on our PS?

Notes/debates:
Ronnie Brown...may very well not get signed, hes not the player he used to be, but if he comes cheap, would serve as a veteran

Sheets...figured we could use Grigsby to fill his role and Keep Hilliard as a possible 2nd string FB in a pinch

TE...where to begin...we have NOONE to catch the ball. Hopefully Clay can pull through. Im not comfortable putting any of the other TEs on the roster. If we an pick up someone miraculously soon, Id cut Hilliard

OL...if we cant sign Ohara to play C, Id pull another from the list of cuts...theyre all quite bad, so not sure which one it would be

DB...Sapp and Culver...maybe keep one of them (Culver?), and cut Francis at the OLB spot.

Overview (0-10 rating starters/overall depth):
QB...4/3
RB...7/6
FB...6/5 (based on last years Polite)
OL...7.5/6
WR...8/7
TE...6/3

DL...9.5/9
OLB...8/6
ILB...8/5
CB...8/7
S...7.5/7

NEEDS (seems like we just never improve does it??!!)
QB...no comment

pass catching TE...not only can we not defend the TE position, we have none ourselves! hopefully clay will surprise us here

2nd WR deep threat (depends on how gates and wallace develop...may not be totally necessary)
quality OL depth...(jerry is looking shaky, hopefully pouncey will learn to snap the ball, having murtha as a backup just scares me, is james marten not any better to beat this sap out for a spot?!)

OLB pass rusher...JT is washed up and trusnick is for ST,,,hoping Trusnick will surprise in spot duty

ILB depth...we cut dobbins and crowder, and are left with a 7th round, 2nd-year player and one who was on IR all of last year and is basically a rookie (Edds) for depth. im hoping Edds can perform as advertised and put a stick on opposing TEs and RBs out of the backfield. Not sure what Spitler has to offer

What do you guys think?
Any hope for signing any last minute FAs?

Pretty good post.still not ready to put moore ahead of henne (not bcz i think henne is any good i just think moore is a lot worse) If we sign OHARA the OLINE gets a whole lot better, i watch alot of giants games and he is a great leader for the oline and helped eli along.
Agree i think we need a real no. 2 wr, bess is a great slot receiver up there with welker IMO, our defense is a beast, we will be fine w/out dobbins or crowder we upgraded at the position with burnett and hopefully edds. I think there is a higher chance ricky returns rather than ronnie but i am comforrtable at the position with bush and dthomas,

The biggest return of the defense is definetly the return of will allen, he will not start but will be great in the nickle or dime packages.

go phins, we wil be better, i honestly believe henne will be better than last year just on the fact that old man henning is gone.

Our starting 11 on defense is NASTY

We knew the lockout was going to be tough for this offense, it doesn't help them look any better when going up against that defense (though hopefully it will help them in the long run).

Did we re-sign Ronnie Brown? You're short 1 TE as well, no way we carry just 2 TEs.

I wonder if Ronnie and Channng would come back on short deals for minimum money? Channing would be a nice backup behind Burnett and Ronnie definitely could mix it in with DT and Bush. Pride is a *****, but maybe it could be done. Beats finding new living arrangements when the contract you were expecting isn't happening.

Yeah our D should be solid! Hope they dont get burned out after a half season of covering for 3 yards and pile of dirt.

I know there is no way well keep only 2 TE, but I couldn't bring myself to even type the names of the others we have on the roster. If I had to lick one, I'd go with Schuler.

No we didn't sign Brown. Last time I heard he was flirting with he Rams? I'd bring him or Ricky back. Hope we can keep one.

I was gonna put Henne as the starter, but all the bad reports xing out of TC the last few days has been disheartening. Glad we didn't break the bank for Orton. Would like to see what Henne can do with a new OC and players on O.

You know it is a sign of a bad team when the cuts are getting easier...not harder...

Last year you would have had alot of argument over many of the positions....this year the cuts look much simpler...

Yea right it's hard to make cuts on this team , it's just that the positions that are lacking are seriously lacking ( qb te g)

Fienga is starting over Jerry right now. We will go with 3 TE's. Shuler perhaps. Polite can be upgraded. You're missing a NT (you named 2 but listed (3)). Ronnie's not signed. Still talking with St. Louis.

Wow. Feinga over Jerry. Yeah polite can be upgraded. He went from pancaking people and automatic on 3rd and short to just average. Still dont know what happened with him. Id put baker in there for 3rd NT, as he can so play DE.

I agree with most of what you posted, except for the cut of Kory Sheets. I feel like Hilliard will be the odd man out, only because Charles Clay is a man without a position. He doesn't have the hands to be considered a full-time TE, but he doesn't have the polished blocking skills to consistently help in the running game. If we keep Sheets, Clay can fill in as the backup FB and as a mismatch TE. Hilliard, in my opinion, becomes obsolete because of Clay's versatility and Sheets' speed. Just my opinion, thoughts?

I also feel like Brett Brackett could sneak onto the 53 man roster. From what I've been reading from the local reporters, he's been quite impressive.
