Derek Carr is already better than Tannehill!!

T

And I guess we'll prefer to ignore that Tannehill led the league in dropped interceptions last season with 17. No need to adjust there. Look away, Dixie Land.

That's an, oh how do you say.... adaptation of jolliness.

Now what? Try watching the game to have more than a superficial point of view.

So because my opinion differs from yours that makes it superficial or even wrong? How ****ing old are you?

Statistics do not tell you with any CERTAIN accuracy that one player is better than another. If you watch the two players play the game you can see the OP's point. The presence on the field, the self control, the moxie, the leadership ,the focus...look at these qualities or lack thereof to understand the point

Derek Carr cannot possibly have any of those traits after 3 weeks, especially seeing as how Oakland has looked awful. Even Charles Woodson, who's on the team, shares the same sentiment.

One stat I like is how many individual games with 88+ passer rating the player has, you generally should win those. Its a pretty significant stat and for a long stretch Belichick/Brady had a record of something stupid like 56-1 when Brady hit the 88+ number. Carr has one this season and Tannehill is still batting zero. Its not surprising to me that Carr lost his. It is surprising that we have zero to this point but luckily we managed a win, which, and I know nobody wants to hear this, actually is a step in the right direction.

So I just got done with carrs work vs New England...I will say this he resets his feet better than tannehill when he gets moved off the spot...I like his footwork in the pocket...he trust his arm a little more than I think he should on some things...not stepping into some throws all arm and down the field too...I thnk that will bite him eventually...he gives his pass receiving options chances to make plays down the field...covered or not he's trying to make plays...absolutely loves the back shoulder executes it well...Miami DBS and lbs better have their heads on swivels cause he's gonna throw balls right by their ear if their not...

Khalil Mack looks like he's taking well to that transition to solb and providing good rush on the edge in the sub...better account for him...I thought the holding call on the called back raider td was bogus but if gabe Jackson just let's him go after the ball goes by and doesn't drive him in the ground there's probably no call...

The other real takeaway for me is New England just doesn't look good...Brady is not avoiding any rush in the pocket and he's throwing balls in the ground and missing open targets all over the place...really does look like Father Time is catching up...revis also that's not the same guy I saw pre injury...will be interesting to see how much difference browner makes...really glad to see those blatant pick plays of the pats are getting called...bout damn time

Division really looks wide open to me...if tannehill could get his game up to snuff...I know if it doesn't work out here and I ran a Kubiak Like o I'd be coveting his services...think that's a better fit for his game...to date at least

2 things

do you think Tannehill will come around? do you still have faith?

New England is about to be 2-2, I dont think they can beat KC. They really are ripe for the taking too bad for the Jets Geno still sucks and the Bills are still the jills. Come on Miami its there!

I think what slimm said about tannehill needing an offense more based on presnap reads like the one he had with Sherman and not post snap quick decisions like this one from a variety of different locations makes a ton of sense...that said I do think this kid can figure those things out...he's not dumb by any means...but I don't know how long it will take and I'm pretty sure philbin doesn't have the leash...

I think things might be different right now if Kubiak was the oc and we worked that kind of offense...this offense doesn't play to tannehills strength presnap reads..,but again he's still not throwing the ball into coverage or making bad decisions with the football...he's just not trusting what he sees or seeing it fast enough on sone things mainly from the standard pocket portions of this offense..,that may be about learning route combinations etc which are different now relative to coverages being played etc and just needing time and reps to find windows and threaten more down the field...I hope that's all it is...

As for what slimm said about staying on his first read too long I definitely think that plays into it too...when things change post snap he's just taking too long to either go thru progressions and get what he can get with his legs or work to his check down...I'm finding the backs leaking late are open a lot...dump the ball to them

Interesting point by Kurt Warner this morning on Derek Carr not pointing his foot towards the target basically throwing with all upper half on many things...easy way to leave balls too far inside...foot pointing one way ball going the other

yeah it's not even close. Derek Carr is already way better than Tannehill. I can't believe he fell to the 2nd round.
