Could Derek Hagan start on opening day?

Derek Hagan had an excellent minicamp this past weekend and seemed to really stand out. He made a couple of "highlight reel" catches and was able to consistently get open. Some have even gone as far as saying he might be the best route runner on the team. Of course the knock on him coming out of college was that his hands were very inconsistent, but he hasnt had any trouble with that as of late.

I really believe Hagan is poised to have a breakout year - but the signifigance of this impact will hinge on the role he plays on this team, whether it be as a starter or in a reserve role. Marty Booker is consistent and a proven commodity, but seemingly dosent seem to fit the mold of Cam Cameron's type of reciever. In the end, I think Marty will hold on to his job for this upcoming season, but Hagan will push for significant playing time. 50 catches and 4-5 touchdowns isnt out of the question.

What do you think the chances of Derek Hagan starting over Marty Booker in 2007 are?

Heres an excellent article touching on Derek Hagan's growth as an NFL wide reciever.

Booker will be traded before pre-season concludes unless there is a serious injury.

Nice post man. I'd be EXTREMELLY excited if Hagan were to do so as I am very high on the guy. He is the PERFECT compliment to Ginn and Chambers and there is no dout these 3 will make a phenomenal trio in 2008. If Hagan can burst onto the scene as early as 2007, that would prove HUGE for the offense. I like Booker, but if Hagan wins the job, that means he really earned it. I can't wait to see our WRs this year.

I, too, think Hagan is ready to take it to the next level. One other young guy's name not to forget "David Sutton". Cam even remarked that he had that something special and could be "Something" in 2 or 3 years if he worked at it.

I'm excited about Hagan too. I couldn't believe how little he was utilized last year, but with Welker having such a good year it was understandable.

At the very least he should see a lot of playing time during 3 WR sets and I look forward to seeing him show his stuff.

I don't think it matters much who starts; both Booker and Hagen will see a lot of playing time. I don't think Booker will be traded unless we get an offer we can't refuse (which is unlikely).

He really has stood out this minicamp.
He'll definately get more balls thrown his way.

I was actually pretty impressed with all out WRs. I liked Chambers the most. I thought Hagan was outstanding. Campbell and Sutton impressed me. Especially, Sutton. Ginn is a beast, and with time he'll get better. Booker did well too.

Remember what I told you guys during last season? Derek Hagan is our most poised and best route running receiver. I said that if he ever (not that's a big "if") improves his concentration and stops dropping ridiculously easy passes, he can be the best receiver on this team. Let's see.

i lol'ed at those people crying that we didnt pick up dwayne jarrett in the draft. he and hagan are the same receiver. glad to see he is coming along.

i remember when the raiders drafted andrew walter the year before hagan left arizona state and i believe him and walter broke ncaa records for a qb wideout tandem. i then watched countless amounts of games with the two of them and many of hagans games in his final year at Arizona St. he really impressed me in college and i was hoping the dolphins would draft him. now with that said i have seen him drop many passes that should have been routine grabs. now everyone is saying he is getting open and making all the catches, but you have to remeber he may be catching them now and that might be because he knows that safety isn't going to hit him lets see if he continues to catch the ball like he is when the pads are one and when the safety really is there.

Hagan looks awesome, plain and simple. Chambers is really impressing, too. I really like what I saw if him at minicamp, especially the hustle and good attitude- spring in his step like he was just stoked. Then we have pure speed in Ginn and Campbell. Where does that leave Booker? It wouldn't shock me if the y cut him and his salary and kept David Sutton. I like Booker, but Hagan is better and 3 mil is a hefty salary for a backup.

Will P.K. Sam be in camp. I know he is putting up some good numbers in NFL Europa. I wonder if he is gonna make the team.
