In Miami`s "Wide-9" technique, the DE is a pure pass rusher, and usually a speed rusher to be more specific. He aligns himself out wide, angled back toward the quarterback, and has limited run responsibility on the play. His whole job is to get to the quarterback. These are the defensive ends who excel at getting off the ball, blowing past the tackle, dipping their shoulder around the turn, and reaching the quarterback as he completes his drop.
Believe it of not Dion Jordan will be an amazing wide -9 tech DE.
So what DE prospects in the late first to second rd would fit this scheme
What should be very interesting this off season is if Miami resigns Andre and also if they decide to keep Dion Jordan. If they did keep these two guys, then DE may not be a big need as is LBs.
However; Carl Lawson of Auburn and Charles Harris of Missouri are the only true wide-9 guys who could still be available at 22 when Miami picks. The best value for wide-9 guy may come much later in the draft. There are bunch of them even in the 3rd day of the draft.
