is there a way to see the site in desktop format on mobile? and currently i'm having trouble seeing how to become vip on the mobile site.

Believe it or not mobile is desktop and vice versa. So to find the VIP option, on mobile and desktop, you click your username in the bar at the top. Once you do that a drop menu will appear. In the right hand column, two places above Log Out, is Account Upgrades. Click Account Upgrades and you will be sent a page with VIP and Super Donator option.
