Contender or Pretender?

Contender for a while, but might die come August or so. They are a year away

Pretenders that wont last neither will the cincy red legs.

I'll say pretender for the moment that will give a lot of contenders problems. That staff will be a terror to deal with, but the White Sox are the better team, and the Indians are probably going to finish ahead of them as well. They're obviously much, much improved, but they just need some seasoning.

Pretender. I like Verlander and Zumaya but I think the rest of their staff is average (eventhough they're pitching well). I don't buy Todd Jones as a big time closer and Kenny Rogers have never pitched well in a big spot. I'm also not in love with their offense either.

I'd say that they'll end up finishing 3rd behind the White Sox and Indians.

If they get swept by the Yankees "B" team at home = pretenders

Even if the win tomorrow, I still think the Tigers pitchers and batters got exposed. I think playing a weak AL Central made them look better than they were. They really don't have a big bat in the line up and no real ace either.

Plus like I said earlier (before last night's game) anytime you have to put the game in the hands of Todd Jones, watch out.

I don't know about best. Toronto, NY, Boston seems to be the best right now. But AL Central isn't weak by any means.

There's no way they're in the best division in baseball. The AL East is the best in my opinion.

The Central has the Royals who have been god awful and Twins who have been bad the whole year too. The Indians have been 1 game over .500 after tonight's win. Not very strong right now.

I expect the Indians to bounce back and be in 2nd place soon with the Tigers dropping down to the 3rd hole.

EDIT: I just did a quick count and the Tigers have played 30 teams who have records under .500 (not counting the Indians).
