The two teams are teh only serious contenders for the services of Michael Finley....

Let me be the first to say...that if the Heat get Finley.....It's over...It's over....send the trophy over....This would be the most potent offensive team in Basketball with some very good defensive pieces to go along with a very good front line......IT WOULD BE OVER...all that would be left is to see if they can win 70 games.

This sounds suspiciously like the party line when the Lakers signed Malone and Payton to team with Shaq and Kobe.

The road to the Finals goes through The D. Never forget this.

Yea, count me amongst those who believe that we'd be the #1 contenders for the Title if that were to happen...and we've got as good a shot as any team. :)

Please don't compare those signings with these.

Do NOT compare an Over the Hill Malone with a worthless Payton with........Antoine Walker, James Posey, Jason Williams, and Michael Finley added to a team that already had a 10/10 PF and Shaq with Wade......

Just don't do it. No comparison.

Yeah, these are players that still have their skills left. Malone even said he was going just to win a ring and retire, while Payton is in denial right now.

I can, and will, make that comparison.

Not because I think that these signings are as certain to backfire (they clearly aren't; I think Miami made an excellent trade in getting three quality guys for one quality guy), but because, like Laker fans in 2003-4, you are getting WAY too fat on your own hype.

No we are getting fat on the FACT that the Heat would have been in the finals if healthy without the players mentioned.

Add these players and ...well....you get the picture.

Well, Phil, I wasn't and still am not a fan of the megadeal until I see that it works. I think there's a lot of opportunity for failure there, and by failure I mean winning 45 games and a 4 seed or something like that.

But there's no denying that the talent we have added is much better than the talent the Lakers added.

If Wade and Shaq get hurt....at the start of the season...and miss it completely.....then they will win 45 games.....

Dude...you are paranoid.

Bit optimistic there. I think I'll reserve my judgement until I've seen them play a few games. They have a lot of talent and certainly are right up there with San Antonio as the elite teams of the NBA, but there is no guarantee that it all meshes, and everyone plays well together.

This statement...

does nothing to disprove this one...

Does it? I believe the Pistons lost last year in the finals, so they arent champions. AND they no longer have larry brown.

The trophy goes through Miami this year. You ALWAYS must go through Shaq for the trophy.

I am sure that you believe that...and maybe you believe it to make yourself feel better....BUT...to be completely honest.....It doesn't...

The "D" is a stepping stone....The "D" is a gnat to the Heat now......I could care less about the "D"....

The only team we have to worry about is San Antonio...that is it.....

TO THE BACK OF THE BUS....NOW!!!! YOU ARE NO LONGER WORTHY... :rofl3:

Honestly, TT, I expect (and demand) blind homerism from 126, but not from you.

The road TO the Finals goes through Detroit, in the East. Obviously, the road ends with San Antonio, no one would deny that. Until Miami beats Detroit in the playoffs, y'all are playing second fiddle. Period.

By the way, Detroit's gone through Shaq two years running. Warrants mention.

What? The road to the Finals goes through Boston! Big Al Jefferson and Co. :rofl3: Go Celts.

No but seriously, I have to agree with Phunwin here. The Pistons have represented the East for 2 years now, and until someone knocks them off and proves they can go through them, they are the team to beat. Regardless of changes...
