I'm just a big fan of Kevin Smith out of UCF and I wanted to know now he is being received by the Detroit Fans. I think he will be able to flourish in that offense.

I'm just hoping the fans will give the 'small school' guy a chance before they see what he can do.

I think the surprise RB in the draft will be Jammal Charles of Texas, drafted in round 3 by Kansas City.
 
Just look how loaded Detroit is now. Calvin Johnson, Roy Williams, and Kevin Smith. Get them a quarterback.
 
Detroit Lions hasn't had a quarterback since Bobby Layne. I think it's about time they pick up a real QB, not these scrubs like Kitna.

They've tried to. They thought Charlie Batch was the answer, then they drafted Joey Harrington. Right now, Jon Kitna is like Tom Brady compared to all the crap they've had.

As a Dolphins fan do we really get to rip on another team for having pathetic Qb play?
 
You make a point, but Bobby Layne hasn't been around since the 60's, and atleast we had a quarterback in the 90's. lolol

I don't think Kitna is awful. Though we've had there reject come in, albeit was supposed to be a backup. They had Scott Mitchell. I really can't remember a time when Qb play in the NFL was as bad as it is now. Teams are scared to death to take a Qb in the 1st rd and have him flop. Yet when they do they expect immediate results and then give up on them.
 
I appreciate the 'action' on the thread but still no news on Kevin Smith. Any of y'all know a good detroit forum that I could check out?

ps - I think all three of our qb could very well be better than Kitna in no time flat!
 
I live in Detriot and let me tell you, people are hyped about Smith. Everyone thinks he'll be the starter and have a huge year. People are looking for a 1000 yard season from him off the bat.

I appreciate the news about Kevin Smith. I'm glad the Lions fans are excited about him too, I saw him make some real nice plays last season. He's gonna make alot of teams second guess their running back selection in the draft.

Lions fans sure are excited for him. Many Lions fans here, were very upset with the passing of Mendenhall, but after the draft was done and they got Kevin Smith, no one really is upset anymore. I think the Lions are getting pretty close to be a competitive team here in the future.
