This is the international guy (Brazil ?) on our PS. He is listed as OL/DL. Does anyone no anything about him? Chances of development? Raw athlete who just started football?

Dolphins just circumventing the rules to have an extra body in practice. Maybe I shouldn't say circumventing and should say exploiting. Neto is now 28, although last year was his first real shot at the NFL and he's very raw, if he hasn't developed into a roster caliber player at this point I can't see it ever happening. If it weren't for the international roster exemption I would guess his NFL dream would have ended last year.

I mean...he's just a beast of a guy who's athletic and completely unprepared for the NFL...but he's apparently working hard enough and showing SOMETHING to keep his spot on the international development squad. He's 28, so it's not like he's a little kid.

Hey, who knows. Maybe he gets activated for a game at some point.

Neto is a big powerful man - 6'4" 330lbs - (a lot of muscle). But as gregorygrant83 highlights above, he's now 28. Back in Brazil he was a top judo fighter and won awards. I'm sure one on one, he is physically powerful.
To be real, the chances of him making it in the NFL are probably extremely low. However, because of his international heritage (and the NFL's desire to develop a global following and generate additional revenue streams eg foreign TV), he doesn't count on the practice squad #s. As such, he is effectively an additional big strong body to be used at training - to physically challenge our D-linemen. If he was really bad and not contributing, the Dolphins would have moved on from him and not wasted further time, money and effort in his development. It's a pity we had no preseason games, I would have been curious to see the big boy in a game. BTW - He has a degree in agricultural engineering.

Have they tried this guy out at offensive tackle? You would think a judo champ could have some hand and feet quickness. Move over Jesse Davis and that undeserving contract extension.

its amazing how much the NFL will pay in salary in exchange for a few 'we have international players attempting to learn how to play football for the first time' press releases

OT is a good thought. I assume the coaches have done that.

Dude just needs to give up football and get into MMA. At that size and with his judo skills he should dominate. Then he can retire and help solve our country's farming issues.
