Is there any chance of developing Pat Devlin into a start for this offensive system? I remember many people wanting him in the mid-rounds last year, but he ended up undrafted.

Could Philbin and Sherman develop him?

i remember him playing alot out of the gun at delaware. He was good at throwing underneath passes, but too many times he let the ball sail when going downfield. I liked him as a mid-late round pick. Ofcourse, i have heard nothing on his progression with Miami. WCO fit his skill set very nicely. He should progress in this system

I think this offensive scheme will play to his strengths, but I personally do not think he has the overall tools / skills to become as NFL caliber starting QB.

The problem with Devlin is that he has a weak arm. Now, i'm not saying that you have to have a strong arm but it doesn't hurt. The issue with Devlin is that he knows he has a weak arm and his scared to make some throws. Until he gets over that his stay in this league will be short

Mike Mayock had Devlin tied with Dalton and a couple others for 5th Best QB in the draft last year. Which just goes to show why we should never listen to Mike Mayock about anything... Other than how to look like a straight version of FOX's Steve Doocy:

I actually like Mayock but his evaluations of QB's has been pretty bad

Devlin is a good fit for the WCO but my guess is he'll spend another season on the practice squad if we draft a QB. Given Moore and Garrard are free agents next year Devlin may be our backup in a couple of seasons, lol. Still I think his quick release and accuracy in the short and intermediate range throws makes him a solid fit in the WCO offense. It would be cool if he would beat out Garrard, we cut Garrard and then Devlin would get a little PT next year and bring in some offers in the form of a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him....but I'm dreaming now.

You sure are.

I don't understand why everyone keeps saying Devlin has a weak arm. Watched video of Devlin in some of his games and his arm doesn't appear any worse then Matt Moores. He even put zip on some passes. His arm appears just fine. Sure he doesn't have a Howitzer hanging from his shoulder but his arm isn't Jay Fiedler's either.

They should definitely give this guy a shot. Rather dump Garrard and let Devlin have a shot behind Moore.
