Where was that ability when we drafted the guy in 2006? Man, we could've used his 150 yards on Sunday!

the crew said he benefitted from his year with the colts

perhaps we need a new OC and WR coach

He was drafted by Saban and was really raw at that time. Saban had bad judgement and no patience, not exactly the place for a deveolpmental player. The two years he spent in Indy with good coaching allowed him a chance. Still, he sit on the bench last year with the Bears and half of this year. It just shows you that wide receivers can be developed but it takes time. You just have to have people playing in front of them while they have time to develop, most teams aren't that patient.

Let's not forget Atari Bigby and Matt Roth. All these players doing well on other teams at postions of need for our team. Argh!!!!!

*Cough* Ted Ginn *Cough*

Who played WR for 1 year before coming into the NFL. Technically this is Ginn's 3rd season in his life playing WR running double moves and complex routes.

I don't think the two are that similiar. Aromashodu was a 7th round pick and Ginn was the 9th overall selection, so world's apart there. Ginn's problems are in his own head and his heart. It's not a matter of developing Ginn and teaching him how to be a wide receiver. Aromashodu has worked and pushed himself into being a wide receiver. How much have you ever heard about how hard Ginn works or his work ethic? Ginn is just a really fast guy who has always gotten by on his physical ability and won't sacrifice anything to play football.

How is it Ginn's fault where he was drafted? I'd love to know.

I noticed that Crocker is doing well with the Bengals

perhaps our scheme/DC is too vanilla or just plain puts safeties in bad positions. then again a sick pass rush cures alot of ills

one thing I have wondered is why do we need a tackling safety who can't pass defend worth a damn(guess who)? getting owned by WR's and TE's seems like a higher price to pay than supporting the run

I never said Ginn was worthy or responsible for where he was selected, his selection as a top ten pick is on the hands of Cameron and Mueller. I was just making the point about the difference between Ginn and Aromashodu as NFL prospects during the draft. That equates to more opportunities and patience from the beginning for the player selected 9th overall than the one selected in the 7th round. Of course, that comes along with much higher expectations for Ginn, right or wrong they come with the selection and the contract.

I'd love to have Ginn's "burden" of being the 9th overall selection and the contract that goes along with it. I'd love nothing more than Ginn to succeed as a wide receiver but I won't hold my breath waiting it to happen.

Sometimes if you give players a chance they can show you something, I see it in Hilliard. He can be an every down back.

Turner is slow, can't get separation, struggles with running his routes, and doesn't play on special teams. He will be under a lot of pressure to show something next training camp. They will add to the mix at wide receiver, so he better improve quickly.

Turner has been compared a lot to Mike Williams, the 1st round bust of the Lions, who lasted just three seasons in the NFL. I just hope he commits himself to getting better and works his tail off in the offseason.
