Just saw a mock projecting this guy to us in round 2. Anyone able to enlighten me about this Ohio State WR .....where he would fit in this offence, would he be a good match, is he a good value in round two

Cheers

Don't think he'll be there in round 2, but he's probably the best deep threat in the draft.

I couldn't imagine Miami bringing in Stills and then getting another "deep threat" opposite of him. Same goes for those wanting Dorsett. Just couldn't see it.

I'd expect a guy with good size and great ball skills with solid route running ability from day 1.

He was always money for a bomb when osu needed a huge play. Destroyed it in the playoffs

with stills here i dont see it...nor do i see it making sense...do think though he goes in the top 50 somewhere...i know he's added weight since a poor handling of press and the jam at the senior bowl which he needed to do and is now north of 200 lbs...

if we didnt have stills i'd say this should be a pick 47 target but not anymore

unlike the past GMs who bummed on 2nd rd pick, i think these guys get "play makers" in the 2nd rd.

I agree with the above. Smith would be a great pick if we hadn't traded for Stills.

Rather draft Agholor, though I think he goes right before our pick in that mock. Hate the Thompson pick at 14 too btw lol.

Just out of curiosity, anyone know who's the best among these guys in the 2nd -Sammie Coates-Devin Smith - Dorsett ???? I personlly prefer Sammie but would settle for Dorsett.

Let me just say that if someone refines Sammie Coates route running skills he will be one of the Top 5 maybe Top 3 receivers to come out of this class a few years down the road, and that's saying a lot when you look at who's currently ranked ahead of him. I would put him above Devin Smith on the deep ball because not only does he have the burners, but he also has the body type to just go up and overpower smaller db's for the ball. I would LOVE for Miami to call his name on draft day.

I agree with you on Coats on his upside. Once he has the ball in his hands I don't think there is a better receiver in the draft. The problem is when the ball hits his hands it doesn't always stay there. He's not a natural hands catcher and fights the ball a lot. The route running can be worked on I am not sold his hands can improve a while lot though.

Hands are a scary thing to not have natural ability with, at least to me..

He is very good at adjusting to the deep pass. Like pretty much better than anyone coming out this year. He's fairly tall, obviously fast and makes some super tough catches. I'm a buckeye fan and he's the most talented wr ohio state has produced since probably back to david Boston. He didn't run many short routes but I think he could. He just wasn't asked to. If we are looking for a number 1 receiver I don't think smith is it however. If we are looking for a guy that can make big plays for us and help out tannehills deep game this is your guy. He will make the catches that wallace didn't even get close to. Those underthrows and lasers are no longer an issue with Smith. Smith will lay out and get to those overthrows as well. You know the ones where it seemed wallace just lost his extra gear? That's my 2 cents.

Duh!!

Agree with the poster that mentioned Devin's ability to adjust to the ball...probably better than most. The other thing about him is that he fights for the ball...plays angry.

Tracks the deep ball really well, quick first step, could be a little tougher getting off the line and doesn't necessarily know the route tree as well as he could/should, but his presence on the field should force coverages to drop someone deep at all times. Hated seeing him play live at Spartan Stadium because he kept making our cornerbacks look like chumps and making catches with guys step for step with him in coverage.
