Devlin or O'Connell: Who do we keep?

Devlin will make the squad. He cant be hid on the PS. He would be snatched up in a second. So Devlin

Y? Because there were 7 rounds in a draft and 240 some odd picks when nobody wanted him? Or that fact that he would be getting cut by a team who is viewed in the public eye as having one of the 3 worst quarterback situations in the league and he couldn't win a spot over the 3 guys they decide to keep on the team? I'm not understanding the logic of him getting "snatched up in a second". Now he maybe will, I dunno, but that is far from definite and I think it is more than likely that he would be fine on the practice squad. If Devlin is ready to go, keep him on the 53, if he isn't ready, you cut him and put him on the practice squad and if he gets claimed or snatched well so be it . . . the plan continues to get our QB next year.

looking like it's a toss-up at this point, haven't heard much good about either one.

My heart goes out to Devlin and I would love to see him grow into our new franchise QB... But if I had to decide with my head... well it hurts... and its been hurting for the last 10 years..

like kdawg said I doubt there will be any mad rush to sign Devlin by any other team esp during final cut week. I dont see what the big deal is in keeping the qb that performs best in games and practice between O connel or Devlin. Neither guy is some cant miss prospect

Why wont Sporano give Devlin playing time in pre-season (or practice) like all the other rookies? McElroy played 39 plays agianst Houston, Kapernick played 3 quarters, Tyrod thirty something plays, Moore played 36 plays, Mallet, Ponder, Gabbert, Locker, Tyrod, Dalton, Newton all got considerable playing time in their games. How can Devlin have a chance when they only give him like 6 or 7 plays, half of them running plays? Makes me wonder if they were serious about developing him or just signing the top UFA to compete for the job this year. This organization has no clue about the quarterback position--the most important position.

Really I mean in reality we dont and he has been injury plagued. Oconnel although dissapointing thus far has great size and is one of the mobile guys u could have for a qb . The guy has tools prob more so than Devlin.
Really you guys write O'Connell to quick he was a THIRD ROUND PICK meaning he clearly has more potential than devlin hes bigger has a better arm and is WAY more athletic than devlin I went to the falcons game and ill say devlin looked like a deer in headlights took two or three sacks and I don't remember him completing a pass on the other hand in the LITTLE time O'Connell got he took advantage for a 30 somthing yard run where he just ran by the other team this guy just needs a chance.

Too early to say. Preseason will likely decide these things, but its really worth noting for Devlin that it seems his reps have been lowered after the last game.

Yeah let's keep O'Connell because two prestigious teams cut him. You know why he was cut? Because he's terrible. Some of you are insufferable at times.

FACT:

they both suck

And all 4 of our QB's suck

O'Connell a 3rd round pick was cut for a udfa from tha same year......2 cent brain.

O-Connell probably because if Henne fall apart, and then Moore fails and we are dismal, then we could still turn to O-Connell to maybe salvage something. We'd be REAL desperate at that point and probably be look at a top 3 draft pick. Let's hope it doesn't collapse that far.
