Diamond

Diamond has been OK blocking, the only reason Lee is still here is he's a blocking machine! Too bad he has such problems getting his body between the ball and the ground...

If we yearn to be a masochistic finesse team that runs the ball maybe 24 times per game and throws it 38+ with maybe 6 yards per attempt tops, then we'll keep Diamond over Lee and cement our fate at 5-11 or worse. Again, it's the Vince Lombardi Trophy, not the Don Coryell Trophy. If Linehan doesn't grasp that and wants to pretend he can reinvent the game, a la Lindy Infante and countless others, our problems will swing dramatically to philosophy and not personnel.

I saw Lee out there plenty with the first teamers last Saturday, delivering one decisive block after another. That was well documented in one thread on this forum yesterday, critiquing each blocker during the early series. The Donald Lee haters must have developed watching and reading cramps last weekend and beyond. This week we play the Steelers. Gee, I wonder what we'll need, a brute like Donald Lee to stalemate one of those vicious LBs, or a cutie pie like Diamond who will weave dainty little routes while our QB is getting knocked on his backside?

A bit over the top. ;) But, kind of what I was getting at.

or they can cut lee and find another blocking TE that wont come into the game, drop a wide open pass and then on the next play get called for a hold that nullifies a 15-yard gain

The TE, I think his name is Ronald Diamond. Do any of you like him and think he can overtake Lee as the 2nd TE?

.........at this point I think it's near a guarentee. When I was in Canton watching the Fins play, I couldn't help but notice how athletic and fluid this guy was on the field.

I think I'm better than Lee and I'm 5'7" and over 40 years old. I think Lee suffers from a disconnect between his head and his athletic ability. He might actually be a good athlete. His concentration is the barrier to using that skill.
