Well, I'm not sure if it was Directv's fault or not, but yesterday i was counting on watching the Raiders vs. Dolphins game on my NFL sunday Ticket.....Only to find out it was blacked out (I live 2 Hours from Oakland)...

Usually, when a game is blacked out on my NFL sunday Ticket (mostly Raider and Niner games) they'll usually have it on my local station...

Well, yesterday, i was screwed....When i went to go check what was on my local station they had the Arizona vs. Jacksonville game, and that game was also blacked out on my NFL ticket!!! WTF!!!

I was so furious :fire: I called DTV practically telling them off....I told them that this was a $hitty service, that I had missed a total of 3 Dolphins games in a 2 year span, I told them I was very unsatisfied with the service and went on and on....man i was pissed...

There were a total of 3 games blacked out (Oak vs. Mia, Jax vs. Ari, NYG vs. Sea)...and according to DTV, they said it was not their fault....man it sucked that 3 games were blacked out from my NFL ticket...

and what got me even more upset was at the fact that i recieved a phone call at 6AM from my cousin asking me if I wanted to go to the game....(I had been drinking the night before and did not go to sleep late) so I told him i would just stay and watch it on TV....

LUCKILY for me, I went to see if the game was on my dad's "Free-to-air" Reciever (as I noted before, that there were a few locals from other cities on there) and sure enough, on one of the other cities locals, i got the game!!!

I haven't had any game blacked out all season. I'm in MD though.

How is that getting screwed by DirecTv. Learn the blackout rules before you go bitchin at them. THey have to comply by the blackout rules, and you have no business complaining to them for following the rules. If it isn't a sellout by thursday (not sure what time) then they can't air it.

Sounds like maybe your local station is as much to blame if not more than Directv.

Well if he lives 2 hours from Oakland it shouldn't be blacked out..the blackout rule is if it is within 75 miles from the stadium.

Here you go, straight from the Directv webpage...

Q:What are the blackout rules for my local team's home games?A:A regular-season, Sunday afternoon home team game will be blacked out in a home team's territory if the game fails to sell out at least 72 hours before the game. If it is blacked out on your local broadcast station, it will also be blacked out in your area on NFL SUNDAY TICKET.

Each stadium's local blackout area is defined by the broadcast signal of the local affiliate carrying the game, not by the mileage surrounding the stadium.

Click here to to find out if your ZIP Code is inside the local broadcast area for any NFL team.

Thanks, I figured my local station was probably more to blame then DTV...I'm glad i got to watch the game though....

Huh. When I talked to a directv rep. last year they said 75 miles..those people never know whats right.

I live in Orange County, CA and occasionally get Charger games blacked out - even on Sunday Ticket - even though my area is at least 100 miles from Charger Stadium. And my area is as much a part of Raider Nation as the city of Oakland itself. I was actually very surprised that the game was not being locally broadcast yesterday given the fact that local CBS ALWAYS show the Raiders here - even over the Chargers. But we got the Chargers as the early game and no late game on CBS.

Hopefully I won't get screwed in a couple weeks. Then again, if it's not sold out, maybe I should make the drive down to San Diego.

As a side note, it was fun watching my best friend (a Raiders fan) bag on his team as we watched the game together.

I've been told you,
change the Area Code,
watch the game,
change the area code back.

Not that I have direct TV. I don't.

I will keep that in mind for the Charger game in a couple weeks. But I don't think it'll be a problem. I just checked for tickets, and couldn't even find any singles.

Brother Ray it is 100 miles from the stadium. Found that out last year. My best friend is a Charger fan and we lived at the time 65-70 miles from Jack Murphy, and couldn't get the game. They talked about on on our local sports station The Mighty 1090.

Before you rip on DirecTV, bear in mind that they are contracted with the NFL and have to do as they say.

That being said, my gripe is with the NFL. I subscribe to the SuperFan package with the HD games broadcast. Since my CBS affiliate broadcast the Dolphins/Raiders game, the SuperFan and DirecTV channels were blacked out. Fair enough, until you realize that my local CBS affiliate doesn't broadcast anything in HD. Seems like there should be a concession for people such as myself. I am paying for the service that I can't receive locally. DirecTv pays the NFL from revenue received from Sunday Ticket and SuperFan subscribers, but the mighty NFL won't allow any exceptions.

The only time I can see the Dolphins in high-definition is when they are broadcast on FOX.

:(

its simple. if the game is shown on local TV, than it will not be on the usual directv Sunday Ticket station, it will only be shown on the local TV station.

they do this, because if its blacked out, than they wont air it on regular TV, and you dont get to watch.

thats the way it works. the NFL blacks out the game on local tv if it is not sold out by a set time. this encurages people to buy tickets and go to the game.

its not Directv's fault.

if you want to get mad over something. what about a "double header" on CBS where the first game goes in to over time, and they dont show your game untill that one is over. if im on the DircecTV NFL Sunday ticket channel for my game, i should not have to miss the beginning of my game to watch the end of another.

Bro did you check ebay, stubhub.com. The North County Times, and sign on san diego.com Try those I bet you come up with a ticket. Try to sit at least 15 rows up to be able to see the game.
