Basically states that we did try to trade down in the first round so maybe we were not so scared of Houston taking Ginn or maybe we would have taken Quinn with the lower pick. Also dispels the fiction that we had Beck rated higher than Quinn, we just had Ginn rated higher than Quinn and I guess did not have Quinn rated that much higher than Beck and seemingly we thought pretty highly of Edwards. So i assume from this they did not see so great a differance in any of these three Qb's that would have ruined thier draft plans.
Was not sure if anybody else had seen the article because I have heard many people make this assumption that we had Beck rated over Quinn.

Mueller said that they were trying to trade up in the first round to take Beck there because they didn't think he would last. I don't think Quinn was a target at all

never said he was a target but disproves that we had beck rated higher like some people think.

Nice read...What ever happend to the link in finheaven to the newspapers with dolphins info????

If they had Quinn rated higher, then they would have known that there was no way he was going to get out of round 1, and I would assume that the emphasis was to get a future QB in this draft.. If Quinn is the number one rated guy on their board at QB, and whom a lot of people didn't see falling like he did, then I firmly believe they would have taken him at #9

They took Ginn because I don't think they had any intentions of taking Quinn.. No matter what that article says, I believe they wanted Ginn and Beck all along with those first two picks

It may be semantics, but it doesn't state that they had Quinn rated higher than Beck either. They may have had them rated on equal footing.

Mueller admitted that Beck was not rated higher than Quinn. Nothing to disprove. They just had Quinn rated closer to a second round prospect than a first.

Mueller has said from the beginning he had then rated the same which is why going with Quinn at #9 was lunacy.

This is rather old, but actually it means that they were trying to trade up to make sure they got Beck. They wanted to get in front of Cleveland (at #35) so they could get Beck. That is what Meuller said....

It has been stated many times on this board that we had Beck rated higher which is a misnomer and falsly reported mainly by Dave Hyde.

On a draft board someone is always rated higher, although the differance may have been minimal. We probably did not have enough differance in them to try to trade up higher to get Quinn, the same way we did not go overboard to get BEck with trent Edwards still on board because we failed to move up to trade for him.

Exactly, Ginn was the Best PLayer Available, thats why he is in Miami. Not rocket science folks. I also don't think they had Quinn rated MUCH higher than beck/edwards/kolb.

We were trying to get in front of Detroit whom we knew had some interest in Beck but apparently they were fine with him or Stanton since they traded down knowing they would not get him. I just don't like how people want to make this out to be some genius move, when luck was more of a factor than anything. I'm sure the grades between Quinn, BEck and Edwards were very close on the dolphin boards and I'm sure that was the order on our boards. I think if Quinn was there later in the first round, we would have tried to move up to that pick and take Quinn. By taking Ginn in the first round the Dolphins were basically stating that he was by far rated higher than any Qb on thier board and that not one of the three Qb's that they were looking at was worth taking that high based on thier grade. It looks like the plan was to trade down and take Ginn and possibly move up and take BEck or maybe if we got enough for the 9 pick we would have traded up to take Quinn and Ginn. We will never really know if thats what they hoped to do but at least Mueller did give some insight that you usually don't get in th article. I guess one more possibility was that if they had traded down and somehow lost Ginn than they might have taken Ginn. The only sure thing is that we liked Ginn more than any other player left on board when we drafted.
