Was just going back over the TV feed and noticed something I haven't seen before. It was late in the 2nd Quarter 2:56 we have the ball 1st and 10 from our own 30. I was watching Dallas Thomas, but at the snap I realize he isn't playing RT, he is playing LT. Clay is playing RT, and James is lined up out to the left in a bunch set with Gibson and Landry. The play is the one where Daniel Thomas gets the handoff and Shelley whiffs on another block allowing Kyle to get a free shot at Thomas in the backfield, but Thomas makes a sweet spin move and gains 7 yards up the middle.

I had to go back and watch it several times to see where everyone was. At the time I never noticed the odd alignment. Did anyone else notice the trickery?? Wonder if they are putting on tape something for teams to wonder about. At the snap James just turns and blocks the DB. Strange. I just wondered if anyone else had noticed.

The very next play is the one where Tannehill catches his own pass.

I've seen James line up in the bunch formation before.

Was it before Albert went down?? Seems odd that as short as we are on the OL that we would use our LT as a WR. What other game was it I would like to look it up. They have never thrown it out to the WR over there have they?? I think I would have noticed that.

i saw that too, they have run that formation before, i think at some point that pass will come, on this play if thomas would run that PA at left end, #91 would be out of the way and whoever the WR is, here it is landry, i would prefer wallace to run that thing though, could be a big gainer

Im sure we will see that again but with a quick screen run to the bunch set. BTW, how do you clip game footage like that?

I did not notice that during the game! Interesting....

Al13 - thank you for sharing the clip!

Number 91 had contain on that one, if it wasnt for him, Tannehill or Landry gets a huge chunk. Maybe he could`ve lobbed it over him to Landry but then the pass takes a longer time to get there and allows the D a bit more time to converge. That was actually a good D playcall.
EDIT: After watching again, notice number 91 also makes the tackle on that play, amazing...

Miami's used that formation a few times. If you go back to the Alabama-LSU game last week - in overtime Alabama used the formation and LSU miss read it and nobody covered the tightend who was wide open accross the middle. It's a variation of the unbalanced line.
