Mentioned in a few posts the idea of how far the Dolphins had fallen in regards to the media, teams and players looking at the schedule and marking the Dolphins down as a "W"... sad but none the less... it exists.

From SI in writing about NE...

Looking At The Schedule ...

A 14-2 record is a distinct possibility. It seems unlikely that the Patriots will lose any of their first four games (at Miami, San Diego, at Buffalo, at Oakland) or their last four (at Washington, at Denver, Miami, Buffalo). If they suffer any losses at all they might come during a somewhat daunting eight-game stretch that runs from early October to early December. Games at Pittsburgh, at Jets and at Philadelphia seem particularly difficult. Still, New England should emerge with its fifth 14-plus-win season of the Belichick era. Three of the first four led to Super Bowl appearances.

Now maybe the Dolphin D can look at this and gain some traction and take it out on opponents.... unfortunately the offense has a role to play as well... are they up to the challenge?

Based on recent history one would be forced to say no... and with no upgrade at QB.... except what Henne has done to improve himself.... unless we average north of 22+PPG.... we'll be looking up in our own division no matter how good the D.

You win and lose on the field not the media.

We used to be "loved" by the media in the late 90s and early 2000s and that did a whole lot of good, huh?

let's hope everyone believes they will have an easy time with Miami

Sports Illustrated picked the Dolphins to go to the Super Bowl in 2006. Don't put too much stock into what they say.

I don't think any team is going to have an easy time with the Dolphin D... provided they aren't forced to work with a short field due to turnovers... or a lot of 3 and outs.... which have happened in the past...

But you know teams are going to take away the run... what exactly they are taking away we don't know yet... and FORCE CH to win the game throwing the ball....

Honestly... anyone here signing up for CH to win games on his smarts and arm.....

A good team would use this as bulletin board material, come out and smoke their opponent to open up the season.

I'd like to think the D will respond... in fact I think OC's already highly respect the Dolphin D... the other side of the ball... not so much...

Hehehehe, C-Pep was supposed to take us to the SuperBowl against the Panthers...

It's the stats nerds game!

Let's compare to the Dolphins to the Jets.

Last season the offense averaged 17.1 PPG (30th). The Jets averaged 22.9 PPG (13th)

Last season the defense allowed 20.8 PPG, (14th), The Jets allowed 19 PPG (6th)

What hurt the dolphins last season, settling for fist-pump field goals and the defenses inability to catch footballs. Swap out a FG for a TD in each game and catch a couple of interceptions and it's a completely different team.

On the bright side, both the offense and defense should be better this year. How much better? That is a discussion to have a couple of months from now.

The writer sure went out on a ledge with his prediction didn't he?

Yeah, it's shocking to think that the media would figure the Patriots would beat a team they swept by a score of 79-21 last season.
