Did we become a good team all of a sudden? Is it something that happens right under your nose without really realizing it? Like you don't realize you're slowly putting on weight then one day you look in the mirror and all of a sudden you realize your a fat ****.

I've had a sneaking suspicion all season that the perception about this team was changing just based off the betting lines, we were always 2 or 3 points better than what I was expecting, it kind of pissed me off cause I wanted to bet a lot more often thinking I had a scoop. Also, looking at possible playoff contenders and am not really scared of any of them. I think we might have made the jump.

I have to ask because I've never really experienced being a fan of a good team in any sport.

You missed the Dolphins when we had Marino, then. Yeah, this is a good team that could be even better. Honestly the only team on the AFC side that I'd be concerned about going into the playoffs are the Broncos. If, by some miracle, we were to go to the Super Bowl I'm not sure we could be the Seahawks.

So we're the 2nd best team in the AFC now?

I understand the enthusiasm, but we've had better teams than this one fall flat in the past. While we pulled off a win this weekend, we allowed the Pats to keep it close despite their depleted roster, and it looked to me like we came out flat again. We did nothing with our first possession and then allowed NE to drive down the field with theirs. Our offense did very little for the first 29 minutes of the game. Coming out flat seems to be a chronic issue with this team and should be a concern if we make the playoffs.

No, it's just a recognition of historical realities. I expected we would beat the Bolts because we typically do. I expect that, in the playoffs, we would beat the Chiefs because we typically do. I think we have the number of the other teams in the playoff chase, to include the Patriots (who have the same play-a-half issue we do).

I agree with JTC111, our defense pulled through when they had to. The Patriots had a TD, but our DB/LB Michael Thomas stripped it away from Danny Amendola and he also got that pick to seal the game. (Game MVP)

To me.....we have been inconsistent. I think we have the talent on this roster to play with just about anyone. I want to see us run the table from here on.

8-6 makes us a good team, and yes it happened in the last 10 days.

The Chiefs are a whole other animal from years past and I don't think we can count on them folding in the playoffs like in the old days under Marty Schottenheimer. I wouldn't like our chances against them or Denver in the playoffs. And despite beating the Steelers in the snow, I also wouldn't like our chances of playing NE in NE in January. The Pats are 7-0 at home so far this season. Baltimore beat us already this year on our home turf. Yes, it was only by 3 but they dominated time of possession and that combined with how flat we've been out of the gate lately doesn't seem to add up to many points. Given the choice, I'd like our chances against Cincinnati a lot better than the Ravens. Cinci and Indy are probably the least worrisome teams for us.

also should be aware that we've been in every game (minus NO) this year....

The difference between us being 4-10 and us being 12-2 are merely inches and a bounce here, a bounce there. That being said, we are certainly worthy of grabbing a playoff spot. The way we're playing now, is the way some people expected from the beginning of the season when we had our full arsenel (Keller, Gibson, etc.)

Teams have ebs and flows throughout a season with the goal being to be playing your best football at the end of the year. That is a credit to this coaching staff, who was left for dead about 2 months ago. Truly remarkable what Philbin has done to keep this team unified.

Oh please. So now just because we beat the Pats in a close game we should be hiding?

You do not need a blowout to prove that you are a good team. The Pats were the non-plus Ultra in the NFL/AFC East the last 11 years taking the east crown 10 times. They beat powerhouses like Denver and New Orleans this year.

We did not allow the Pats to stay close. They stayed close because they are after all 10-4 and in the driver seat of the AFC East again. They are a good team. Good teams have good players. That'sa why this game was close.

And how do you know it will be a problem in the playoffs? We beat 3 AFC division leaders this year.

The problem with people like you is that unless we win the Superbowl we will have a loss which ends our season eventually and you will come back and say "I told you so we are not good enough"

Do I want to score early on? Yes. Should we? Yes. But that is no guarantee of a win either (i.e. first NE game). You play the game 60 minutes. I rather come out flat and keep the game close and pull out a victory in the second half than the other way around. The teams who win peak at the right time be it in the season or in a game.

And what better teams are you talking about? None of the Dolphins teams were individually better in the last 10 years. The last time we had a good Dolphins team fall flat on its nose was in the 90s.

We have beaten the division leaders of 3 out of the4 in the AFC and beat the only team out of the 4th division we played. All of this done with a young team that could have easily backed down because of the distractions. Ya, we are a good team and our arrow is pointing up.
