If J.Martin was being harassed he should of went to the coaches with complaints and if they didn't address the problem then I can understand his reaction. But if he did this without any type of complaints then I have no respect for the man because this is a job and you cant just up and leave a job without the proper procedure for a complaint. I don't have all the facts so I cant decide how I feel though I am leaning towards he is just being a *****.

Well, I think it's telling that the union doesn't want to get involved. If Martin had a serious claim, and formally brought it to Philbin, then he has good cause to break his contract. But if sounds like he didn't do that, to me.

This league isn't for everybody. I remember a walk-on a few years ago in Dolphins camp, and he just left. Couldn't take the work and just went home, without being cut first. And like any job, you're entitled to do that. But what happens when you sign a contract? Then it's not so easy. It sounds like Martin struggled to learn RT, when he really didn't want to be there, he went through his rookie hazing, second year things are not much better and coaches are screaming at you for allowing all those Tannehill sacks. You've lost 4 games in a row. Your teamates are riding your behind. Then you get moved back to RT where you hate it. You simply don't want to be here. Martin decided to walk away from it. So we'll see what happens.

A lot of posters here seem to think this is going to blow up, I don't think it will, I think it will die down, and they'll resolve it one way or another out of the media.

I don't like my job a lot of days but I stay there and stick it through due to financial obligations / family responsibilities. The Reality of the real world and sports don't cross sometimes.
Makes me sick when I here of the money some of these guys ( vets ) make in a 10 - 15 year period and they end up bankrupt.

Go to the coaches and say they are you using mean words directed at me?

Sometimes? Try Rarely if Ever. Treating sports like entertainment makes it semi-tolerable for me especially as there is getting to be little difference between sports & reality TV. Snooki? Dez? J Martin? Gordon Ramsey? Its all silly IMO.

That said, I have days where the entitlement of some & inconsistency of others make me long for retirement. But, I persist as there are bills to pay.

The union has little to do with this since they do not have the ability to discipline.

In fact, they will be defending Incognito if he is disciplined.

Dude come on, the UK version of Kitchen Nightmares was an awesome show. Don't lump it in with Snooki and Dez!

sure like any job you should report any issues to your boss or your HR. I also have a feeling Martin didn't tell any of the dolphins management about this

Philbin doesn't overreact and in this case maybe he didn't act sufficiently. Who knows?

I don't think the situation will blow up but my instincts on the matter apparently aren't very good, since as recently as this morning I expected Martin would be back in a Dolphins uniform within 2-3 weeks.

I think what the OP asks is a good question and what type of atmosphere does he tolerate? However, I keep thinking the Fins have a ton of ammo to present as to why this is not a hostile environment for Martin.

I betcha Martin and the team find a compromise to make it go away...ie, his release, settlement of cash and he drops the beef he has with the team.

I hope you're right but I got the feeling we are just seeing the beginning of this.

This isn't any other job. It's a locker room. If you have spent any time in one it would be very clear as to why claiming what this guy is claiming is beyond laughable.

How many times at your job could anyone say over and over nigga?

I thought I heard that Martin did report these things to Philbin in the spring but nothing was said or done about it

What was reported? The other players called him big weirdo?

Sheesh how horrible.

well i read a report that he did complain to the coach about it but the coach spoke to the players and tried addressing it. Then everything seemed to quiet down for a bit until recently. Either way this guy is a p***y. If its a metal thing then hopefully he gets help but if he flat out quit then hes a turd. Funny part is that I read another article that Martin himself played pranks on other players and now that its turned on him he cries about ithttp://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...-talked-to-joe-philbin-about-issues-in-spring
