So, if Joe firing Sherman saved his job Ross must have said you will keep your job just fire him. Then the GM gets fired so that is saying to me when the new GM is hired they cant pick their coach. I think?

Joe Philbin, IMHO is the lone man in the room now.

Be careful what you wish for...you just might end up lonely. If there was tension, its because Joe got defensive of many things.

My thoughts are with Ryan Tannehill now.

I kinda remember this happening with the jets where the owner said Rex is safe no matter who the GM is.

Hard to say what posturing went on but it's not out of the realm of possibility that Philbin agreed to fire Sherman if Ross agreed to fire Ireland.

This is what will happen. Ross will hire a new GM and give him/her the choice to keep Phil or dump him. The new Gm could clean house him/her self. Its not Ross's job to clean up all the lower ranks of the team. Come on people, got to look at this as a business also.

Ross didn't fire Ireland, he did professionally castrate him though and Ireland said he wouldn't stay under those conditions. Ross may have told Philbin although he has power to hire and fire his staff that Ross could take care of that by letting him go if he doesn't replace Sherman.

Neuter or fire has the same result and doesn't change that there may have been an agreement between Ross and Philbin concerning Ireland and Sherman. Not saying there was but again, is conceivable.

Ireland could have stayed with a lot less power.....He walked more than he was fired.

The new gm.next year will give philbin a year and if he misses the playoffs he will be gone

It does matter though. If a good GM candidate looks at Ross as a complete idiot that he can't count on to let him have full control, they won't come to Miami. Ross may be the ultimate problem...we will see.

Exactly. I think they bring someone in who can work with Philbin and then after a year, if Philbin bombs, the new GM helps hire a new staff. They'll probably approach it similar to how the Jets did it last year. Hopefully the outcome isn't the same though.

I think Philbin didnt agree with Irelands decisions. Philbin may have been forced to use the players ireland drafted.
