Did Linehan ever have a decent TE in Minny?

kleinsasser is good. don't go by his stats. that's team uses a lot of weapons. wiggins isn't that talented, but he turned it on. i think randy could do more than wiggins if he stops getting the drops towards the end of the season.

He took an average, non atheletic tight end and made him top 10 productive at his position, he should turn McMicheal into an all-pro......

mcmike should have a solid year....not great but solid. I can see him having at least 600 yds with 5 touchdowns.

Jermaine Wiggins:

71 balls for 700 yards and 4 TD's in '04..

That's with Randy Moss, Nate Burleson and Marcus Robinson

Yep... McMike is in for a career year if we can get him the ball.

Exactly, and Wiggins is only a decent te. McMike is much better. If they don't re-sign him soon he's going to cost even more as the season goes on. I predict him going to the pro bowl next year.

Yeah they had Wiggins last year...I dont know how long he was with minny though.

Moss was injured most of the year, and Wiggins is an above average TE.

You can't compare McMichael to that because look at the division the Vikes played in. One decent defense in Detroit, and 2 other bad ones. The AFC East is totally different.

WTF are you talking about???? :shakeno:

McMichael was more productive then Wiggins was last year. I was just pointing out Linehan's penchant to use the TE as a reciever. Ignorance is bliss.

McMicheal had almost 800 yards in this piece of **** offense. In a real one he could be shooting for 1000 especially considering his #'s were better when Feeley was passing.

He never had a standout tight end, but i dont think its because of they never found that really talented one, i thinks its becuase they were always looking for the big better blocking tight ends and they never used tight ends in there scheme that much so they never went after a big play tight end like Mcmike or the Shockeys, i think they never had a real breakout tight end cause they never were looking for one, just like chan gailey when he was here, and we had troy drayton, gaileys type of offense just didnt really incorporate the tight end into his scheme, i just hope Linehan see's what he has in Randy and uses him

This is true about Linehan, and also keep in mind that Meathead's background was OL. He always leaned toward the TE doing a lot of blocking. It was Linehan that incorporated the passing TEs...BUT, keep in mind that the Vikes did have Moss. We have decent WRs, but no Moss. So, he may have to utilize McMike more, especially if we don't get any other FA WRs. Thompson just won't do...

Randy McMichael is a good TE, but he is not an elite player. A lot of Dolfans seem to think he is a star but I don't buy it. His production in the past was more of a reflection of the lack of talent on the offense than his own talents. Don't get me wrong, he has some receiving ability and can create some mismatches with his skills, but he's nowhere near the level of Gonzalez, Heap, Shockey or Gates. A better comparison would be Wiggins or Crumpler.
Same goes for Chambers-he's a solid receiver, but there are at least 15 better WRs in the league.
I'm as big as a fan as others on this site, but I think a little more reason is sometimes necessary.

Alex Holmes should a be a great addition too since Linehan likes 2 tight-end formations.

Wiggins only had 50 career catches before last season and Linehan made him look all pro, McMike should have a great year

McMichael is better than all the TE's they've had in Minny combined. He will shine. It has nothing to do with Moss. Most of the time it's a LB covering a TE...not a CB.
