I see all this anger on these forums directed towards the quarterback position: Beck will be good or Beck sucks, we should have drafted Quinn or glad we didn't take Quinn, or let's draft Ryan or we don't need him. I really am starting to believe that we were spoiled for so long with a quarterback that is going to the Hall of Fame, that we have forgotten that they don't grow on trees! Think about it, not many teams in the league have great QBs, maybe only 3 or 4 teams per year. Teams don't scout the draft well and don't develop their young QBs anymore. I think Parcells and gang are just trying to build the overall talent of the team and go from there. They will develop Beck, McCown and another young guy and hope for the best, and maybe get lucky someday like the Pats did with Brady (6th rounder). I know we are frustrated but Marino-type QBs don't come around to a team very often, we just have to be patient.

Didn't ruin our expectations, he just raised them.

Thanks, probably a better way to say that. However, I still believe we are in a Marino hangover and it is not as easy as people think to find someone that good again.

I totally agree with you're point, my friend. But, by the way, Dan isn't "going" to the Hall of Fame. He's already there.;)

The truth is, in order to get an elite QB, like a Dan Marino, you have to get lucky. Tony Romo went undrafted, Tom Brady went in the 6th round, etc etc. Hell, we got lcky nobody took Dan Marino in the 83' draft.

Very rarely is there ever a QB that everyone is positive will be good as a pro from the college ranks. Peyton manning was gonna be great, we knew that, but Ryan Leaf was supposed to be too. Carson Palmer was gonna be great, again a no brainer, but Byron leftwich was supposed to be to. It takes luck.

No its always been this way when Marinio was around everyone was pointing that we had no running game and that was the answer or the defense was never good enough its just the same thing just another position on the Dolphins.

very true i remember the draft with peyton and leaf everyone was saying well if the colts get peyton no big deal the chargers will get leaf and vice versa

i think the dolphins have yet to recover from dan leaving he was basically the whole offense in the 90's when he retired the dolphins were caught with there pants down they had no clear person to take his spot thats why what the packers did was a good thing they let aaron rodgers sit behind favre and learn from him

fiedler was the only good qb the fins have had since marino

Totally agree. It is the most important position, but probably the hardest to fill. How can we explain some of the high draft pick busts or the low round success stories? Or how can you explain Rich Gannon or even Todd Collins being unknown for many years then given a chance in their 30's they play very well? I'm lost as to what is the right way to find one, but for right now I think the Fins need to be patient and not waste a high draft pick.

We haven't brought in a QB that was even HALF as good as Dan. We keep bringing in retreads from other teams. To me nothing is going to change until we get a real QB.

This is exactly my point: Everyone demands that we get a good one but there is no easy answer as to how it gets done. No one truly has the answer.

I think you need to compare hangovers. A Marino hangover is you wake up a little tired the next day and thristy but with a beautiful blonde stewardess in your bed. The hangover I have suffered under is the one Fiedler, Frerotte, Feeley, Harrington, Culpepper, etc have given me the last decade. That's a hangover made of rot gut whiskey chased with bad tequilla after drinking cheap 7 dollar a jug wine. I throw up , I have a splitting headache and I want to forget what happened last night and there's a midget using my restroom

I sure hope that second scenario isn't from personal experience.

This has nothing to do with Marino anymore. What's it been, 9 years? Sorry, but we just want someone who can get the job done, and not be such a liability.
