The guys in Vegas set our over-under for last year at 6 wins, and then adjusted to 8, which is what we got. They did this with no knowledge of the disaster which took place on the OL. Some, including myself, thought we would do a bit better.

With all thing considered, did the team under or over perform last year?

hard to pick..
honestly the wins vs Indy, Cinncy, NE, Pitt could of gone the other way easy..
Our losses vs NE, Buff, Balt, Car could of gone the other way easy..

We are the definition of middle of the road

I predicted 8-8 .... but there were some games we lost but should have won - and not just last ones. the Ravens game stands out in my mind

We were hot, then cold. Then hot again to give us all hope for the playoffs and then a huge let down. The BS from the NFL investigations and then some big injuries did us in. I think a healthy team that didnt have to suffer through "Martingate" would have got us 10 wins, if not 11. I think we lost more close ones than we won.

I think that we underperformed. The failure of the O-line was the biggest factor for the underperformance and I guess we were lucky that Tannehill didn't get severly hurt.
After the great start to the season the Monday night game in New Orleans was a disaster and it seemed like it took a while to recover from it. This team has a vulnerability in that things can be going along well and the team drops its bundle. A good team isn't as psychologically frail as that. A good team can put a bad game behind and get back on track.
The other factor that hurt us was the injury to Brandon Gibson. He was really coming along and combining well with Tannehill and then he got injured. Rishard Matthews filled in and had a couple of good games but Gibson was the guy who had bigger upside. Mike Sherman's underutilization of Mike Wallace was also pathetic. I expect Lazor to be a lot more creative.

I think we overperformed in the sense that we won a huge percentage of one-score games, which history says is difficult to repeat. With the ****ty offensive scheme, the oline we had and Tannehill's inability to avoid some of the sacks we took, it was a terrific performance from the other pieces to keep us in so many games.

Our schedule is a lot harder this year so, even though I think we're a much better team this season, I don't see a postseason in the tealeaves.

underperformed easily. We had the playoffs in our grasp and BLEW IT. Plus we started 3-0 which makes it even more frustrating.

We underperformed easily... so what, you expected us to win 10+ games about this time last year? Based on what exactly? Tannehill's 78 passer rating as a rookie? Jeff Ireland's tremendous track record? Dion Jordan and the rest of the injury riddled players we signed/drafted? The $23 million we carried in liquid cash?

I would have bet my shirt on over 6.5 but wouldn't have sniffed 8.0. Same goes for this season, I'll bet anybody any amount on over 6.5 but 8.5 would be untouchable for me. I would grudgingly bet the over on 8 if you twisted my arm, which means the team is trending up for me. So for me we met expectations, which is a disappointment, but it is what it is with a raw, inexperienced QB and Head Coach. If Tannehill really is "the franchise" I expect at least 9 wins this season.

There is a big difference between hope and expectations. Expectations are what you would put real cash on.

I think purely talent wise we probably were about average last year, so 8-8 would be about right. Are we more talented this year, sometimes hard to say before the injuries hit but it's looking promising.

IIRC the guys in Vegas you are referring to is Cantor. They had us at 6.5 wins prior to the adjustment. But yeah, we under achieved.

Depends on the bar. Right before the start of the season, Vegas had us at 6.5 wins. If they'd somehow had a way of knowing how the locker room would implode, no way do they have us at 6.5...probably 5. This year, Vegas has us at 8, so if we do as well against Vegas as we did last year, we're talking playoffs. I don't see how we can do worse...unless we have another major locker room issue and/or decimated with injuries.

Still, we should have taken 1 of the last 2...Tanny / Hartline injuries certainly didn't help that. But we also should have beaten NE twice, Baltimore, and Carolina, IMHO.

So compared to Vegas' expectations, we over-performed...compared to OUR expectations, underperformed. Right in line with the normal fan expectancies.

IMHO, we over-perform this year compared to both. Our schedule is basically the same as it is every year...no way to know if it's tougher or easier at this point. It's a 3rd place slate, playing an AFC West division that sent 3 to the playoffs last year (and will only see the Broncos go this year), NFC North (Green Bay, Chicago, and who?), our division, and 2 other 3rd place teams (Baltimore and Jacksonville). I like our chances at a Wildcard...but I haven't given up the division yet (don't need disagreement here...'cuz I don't care).

Being Jacksonville and having their schedule...that may be considered tough.

I thought that given our schedule , the fact that the Patriots were playing a JV squad all year, and the fact that we got the Geno Smith Jets / EJ Manuel Bills twice -- and went 2-4 in those games -- we definitely underperformed. That said, I don't think we will do better this year. The OL still looks like a hot mess to me, I'm not sure where our running game is going to come from, our kicker stinks, and our run defense really concerns me.

We overachieved. Anything over 7-9 for the Dolphins with a Jeff Ireland built team is overachievement.
