We know a lot can happen b4 or on draft day with trades

however, I believe that the patriots will select Clay Matthews Jr., unfortunate for us since I also believe Matthews is the best LB out of USC.

Why do I believe they will select him?

Firstly, remember last year when they tried out of all people John lynch and tank williams. they were looking for that hybrid LB/Safety that can cover slot receivers and TEs that smaller CBs can't handle.

I hate to admit this but Bill Belichick is always ahead of the curve with or without including spygate. He knew that nfl teams were incorperating more spread happy offenses with multiple WR/TE combs.

Hell, just look at the Superbowl, the Cardinals would be champs had Haley went to the no huddle spread attack earlier. They completely drove down the field at will, in the second half, even with the pass rush of the Steelers.

Secondly, someone has to replace vrabel even though they do have shawn crable.

Additionally, with their 1st of 3 second round picks, they will select darius butler or sean smith. Belichick knows he can never have enough depth on Defense especially against teams like the broncos, colts, texans.

Sorry kinda long

thanks for reading

I think Clay Matthews is extremely over rated, and when he gets caught with steroids it will be their problem. I hope Darius Butler falls right in our lap.

matthews doesn't do roids his dad and uncle would banish him if he did. Also, I watched him most of the USC games and he is anything but overrated. the same can't be said of cushing though. in his proday, matthews showed fluid hips and an amazing 360 catch 3-3.5 ft off the ground with great body control thats a natural freak no roids

Matthews is tempting but Cushing and Matthews scar me. Matthews bloodline is great, but pictures of Cush and him from Frosh year to now screams enhancement. Matthews was 160 lbs as a walk on frosh.

WR is the riskiest pick in the 1st round, all the OLB worthy of the first round will most likely be gone and Butler is not a first round pick and Vontae is a work out warrior like his brother. Trade down if possible!

well he could have used creatine to help gain muscle mass. I'm all for trading down for more picks and draft larry english but only if matthews and whomever parcells wants is gone

Why would they try out John Lynch to cover anyone? He's never been good in coverage, even for a Safety. I hope they do get Matthews, because I think he's overrated.

they weren't going to use him as a safety but as a 5th LB on passing downs with slot recievers and te sets that small CBs couldn't handle. The experiment failed that why they went with tank williams who became injured. But, Belichick has said that he likes signing older players in their twlight b/c as he says they know their career is almost over, because of this, he believes they are very productive. some work out like junior seau while others don't like john lynch. however matthews is what he is looking for to fit what he wants to do.

case in point, remember the cardinals game, boldin scored on that TD. It was a blown coverage call on peezy or crowder but no one expects either to man up and cover boldin. with matthews the dolphins can.

the only way we get clay is trading with the eagles in the 1st.moving us in front of the pats.the running back the eagles want would fall to 25,or any body else they would want=hoping.we would have to swap are 2a with the eagles in the 2nd round.the math works out,and the eagles move up in the 2nd to get another good player.if we wanted brace the nt we dont make the trade. i do not think brace will be there late in the second,so we would lose out on him.a lot of teams are going to the 3-4.the real value would be if tuna had someone else at nt we could could get late ,like in the 4th.

Anyone who thinks Maualuga is NOT the best LB coming out of USC this year is simply dilusional or on psychadelic Mushrooms... Either way, ur seein S*** that aint right...

You were doing ok in this thread until that did you really just write that? Mathews can cover boldin????

Here we go again. The same misinformation circulating the internet. Matthews has stated in interviews that he was 210 as a freshman. His father, who was also his HS coach, said he weighed 165 as a HS junior. It is not unusual for a kid to grow that much in those 24 months. I know from personal experience.

On a seam route like he ran when he beat Ayodele for that long TD, yes Matthews could cover him. Boldin runs a 4.72 forty and Matthews runs a 4.6 forty.
