i could be wrong but it seems to me that nick was the brains of the browns defense. when he left it slipped. bb and nick stay in touch while nick is in college. do you guys think that nick taught him how to build the pats defense? just a thought please be gentle.

Saban will be a good one, but don't get silly.

I'm not sure that was a very good defense in Cleveland. But Saban is Bellichik's disciple from what I understood.

I keep hopeing that something along these lines is true. I remember the expression on BB's face when asked about Saban in the same division. Also, BB's information source into the NCAA was just lost so they might suffer down the road from that too.

you be safe !

From what I heard it was Saban's defense. They ran it in cleveland while he was there and turned that defense into the 6th best defense ever for a year at the time. Then saban left and it slipped and now at NE he runs almost the same style of defense they did back then.

I believe NE is more 3-4 based then saban's D in cleveland was.

dont get silly? im not giving nick credit for the patriots superbowls but it seems to me that there is some sort of almost dependency on saban. even when they didnt coach on the same team bb made sure to maintain communication with saban. not being silly. just posting a thought and there appears to be some sort of evidence that this could have been the case

BB was a damn good DC before Saban. I'm sure he learned a great deal from Saban (especially considering how BB said he learned more about football from Saban than Saban did from him), but to say BB got the whole D from Saban is a huge stretch.

I remember hearing somewhere that Saban Came up with the defense that Belicheck uses, if anybody could find a link to that it would be much appreciated.

You guys are out of your minds. This thread needs to be deleted, I never read so many @$$ backwards replies. Yeah Belichick would have never been part of 6 Super Bowl teams without the help of Saban, LMAO. Get real guys, Belichick is a hall of fame coach. Saban hasn't even scratched the surface in regards to NFL head coaching. The Miami Dolphins are being built to completely resemble then team in NE which Belichick built and coached while Saban was in the NCAA doing what he needed to do. What are you going to write next, Saban was actually calling the plays from his cell phone? You guys are completely nuts. They are good friends who Belichick pumped up and gave great references to so the guy can finally get a head coaching gig. If you were a head coach and your buddy was trying to become one would you say that he sucks coaching and you taught him everything he knows? Of course not, you'd pump him up as much as possible. I'd bet when Saban finds success it will be with another team after he learns MORE about what it takes to actually win consistantly. I'm sure Saban will be better then your average coach but he's still a rookie.

This reminds me of the "Parcells taught Belichick everything" thread Cowboys fans NO LONGER write about.

Yeah your right, Saban is the true mastermind behind everything Belichick has accomplished. After years of heartache in Miami I guess you have a right to spin everything positive in regsrds to the Dolphins.

Lol. This thread needs to be be brought back up 3-4 weeks into the season....

i did read an article while saban was at lsu where bb said that he learned more working w/ saban than he has learned working w/ any coach. he added something about the way saban ran practice, the efficiency.
