did the NFLPA director just call out Ireland?

I don't want JI around either, but how does some 1100 texts between 2 people warrant his firing? just how much interaction goes on between a GM and a player? I just don't get this whole mess!!!!!

Ireland should be fired based on his body of work and completely independent of this incident.

If he said it, that would've been my advice too.

Bet it would've solved the issues.

true but hardly good HR work. a member of the front office can't say that

As bad as Ireland has been, the funny thing about this is that this particular incident has more to do with the coaching staff than the GM.

The GM is in charge of bringing in the players, not managing them day-to-day. This issue, if there even is one, was caused due to poor management.

As much as I agree with you...If he brought in this CS then he has just as much blame on himself.

I've been waiting 4 long years to see him gone hopefully my dream comes true.

WHY??? Because Jeff asked Dez Bryant what his dad did for a living, and Dez said, "He's a pimp." So the natural follow up for Ireland was to ask if his Mom was a ho. What's wrong with that??? I wouldn't give millions of dollars to a player without knowing his background. Now if you want to fire Jeff for his personnel moves, have at it!!!!

Wow ...just wow.

I've said this a few times now:

I think its pretty clear that somebody in the organization was unhappy with the status of our o-line. . We signed Lance Louis. We tried to resign Long. We drafted a guard pretty high. We tried to trade for a tackle. We signed Clabo. We signed another guard. And finally we did trade for a left tackle. I think based on all of this you can reasonably assume that Philbin asked for competent replacement options at every position on the line except center and, once again, Ireland failed miserably to deliver on that request.

Ireland definitely deserves at least some of the blame, if not all of it.

This incident should be taken into account when deciding his fate.

Joe Philbin wasnt the one that allegedly suggested slugging Incognito when Martin's agent called the organization. That was Ireland.

Even if you agree with the sentiment, that was idiotic in the extreme. And before people start, only 1 other context makes that somewhat acceptable: if Ireland immediately apologized for the bad joke and declared he would immediately get on this. If not, Ireland should be fired because of this incident. On top of everything else.

The lack of leadership can be placed on Ireland.

The vast majority of locker room leadership in the league comes from players who have been drafted and have a connection to the franchise. Guys who have played for years and have helped establish an attitude that the new players can adopt. Sure, occasionally a veteran free agent can come in and set the tone( Peyton Manning and Wes Welker in Denver), but by and large it comes down to the homegrown guys. And, it should go without saying, but talented players command more respect then untalented guys.

Where are ours? Where our the guys who are in the prime of their careers and have been an established voice for years? Guys who are 27 and 28 but have been wearing our colors since they were 21 and 22? I'll tell you where: out of the league or rotating around the bottoms of rosters.

Things like this happen when you miss on every draft pick you make in the 2008 draft. This is one of the reasons why some of us have gone crazy about our draft failures: the repercussions last for years.
