Did the oline look great last sunday or were the patriots getting old?

They didn't Blitz as much as other teams were this year. I think its a matter of 'Getting Old', Not blitzing, and Joey getting rid of the ball quicker that made them look better.

The line didn't look great at all. Certainly it was improved, but not by much, and it helped that the game plan was for Harrington to get rid of the ball as soon as he touched it.

I'm still wondering why it's good when Harrington throws short passes, but bad when Culpepper does.

Harrington made looks down field and actually pulled the trigger quickly on those routes along with making quicker decisions on the short routes. Culpepper was not pulling the trigger on mid to long routes even when he had guys open and was taking longer to even decide on the dump offs.

I'm in complete agreement with the people that believe Harrington played a level above where Culpepper has been playing. Having said that, it wasn't enough and Harrington needs to get better as well. It was his first game and I'm interested to see what he can in his second game.

As far as the original point of this thread, I agree with Loxin's post completely.

The pass blocking was decent, mostly because of Joey getting rid of the ball. The run blocking was terrible as usual. Ronnie has absolutely no room to run.

I re-watched the game. It's a sad thing really, because Ronnie Brown is trying to create plays and trying to be the playmaker we all know he can be. But wow, this offensive line is just pathetic.

All I know is, once we fix this offensive line, Ronnie Brown will let it loose like no other running back in the league can do. The guy's effort on every touch makes me smile. He knows his offensive line is the definition of crap, but he continues to work hard, trying anything and everything he can to create plays. He is a very gifted athlete, and he can do so many things that 31 of the starting running backs in this league don't have.

I'm rooting for him. I got a good feeling he will let explode this Sunday against the Jets. :dolphins:

I also like his effort. He is always fighting for more yards, even when he gets hit behind the line of scrimmage. He has shown a lot of talent in terms of speed, power, and catching the ball. I would really like to see him behind a good or even decent offensive line.

Not all that often. Most of Harrington's throws were immediate short throws to a receiver who had barely moved after the snap. There were a few downfield shots, but that was mainly to establish the deep ball and try to keep the NE defense honest. The only thing I saw Harrington do differently than Culpepper was get rid of the ball quicker, and I honestly believe that was more a playcalling/gameplan decision to compensate for the offensive line than anything else.

Ronnie Brown is definitely one of the highlights of our team. I'm amazed every time he gets the ball, and would really like to know how many defenders wake up the next morning sore and bruised because of him. I honestly think that if/when we get a respectable offensive line going, Brown can match the performances of LaDanian Tomlinson and Larry Johnson.

I think you are right. The other thing that was different was Joey's dropback from center. Daunte just kind of strolls away from center while Joey gets away pretty quickly. That gave him a little more time to read the defense and get rid of the ball. I think that is one area that Daunte is looking to get better in with his continued rehab. His dropback in Minnesota was a lot quicker.

That's because he is still injured. This change should have been made in the 3rd quarter of the Buffalo game. It was apparent that DC wasn't healthy enough to keep up with the speed of the game.

Let's not exaggerate. Brown is good, but he is not even a top 5 back

Currently, you mean. Hard to do much of anything behind one of the worst lines in the league. If you want to see the difference a good offensive line can make, look at Maroney in New England.

The O'line looked fine in with the pass form, but when it came down to the run, it was ruff on them. We'll see what they go against these jets.

You can't say the OL looked even decent last week, Joey just got rid of the ball quicker and there was NO run blocking. Our OL is almost nonexistant. They couldn't block their way out of a paper sack.
