Huh. I hadn't read that. I just saw the initial report.

I wonder if Saban just told the media that it was an excused absence to get them off the trail. I wouldn't put it past him. He likes to take care of that situation 100% in-house without the media exacerbating the issue with headlines and innuendos. God only knows the crying incident was publicized well enough that Saban may feel Manny should get a little leeway as far as allaying the media with a report of the absence being excused even if it wasn't.
