I'm just wondering on the overall level of satisfaction Dolphin fans have gotten from this 8-7 season (where we end up either 9-7 or 8-8, and miss the playoffs)
There's a lot of folks out there that think championships are the only important measure of a season...that any non-championship season was a failed season. I don't agree with that. I've had a lot of fun watching the Phins play this season. I've had a lot of fun watching them win 5 "meaningless" games in a row. Dare I say more fun than watching the Phins go 10-6 or 9-7 with a first round playoff exit under Wannstedt?
I remember Curtis Martin being asked once which of his seasons in the NFL was the most rewarding season. He replied the 8-8 season under Bill Parcells where they lost Vinny Testeverde in like the first game, wallowed around a bit with Rick Mirer at QB losing all kinds of games until they settled on Ray Lucas at QB and he led them to a 6-3 record or something like that in the final 9 games. Like us, they had to know after halfway through the season that their playoff hopes were slim...but they learned to love the game and love winning for what it is.
