There's speculation on Fox and ESPN that we actually meant to draft
Nate Ilaoa. Mauia said "he was stunned to be drafted" in the Honolulu Advertiser.

I am from Hawaii and when we drafted Mauia I thought it was a mistake and wondered why the Dolphins did not take Nate Ilaoa ? Then I thought that a FB was on the draft priority list so then I just said cool because Mauia is a beast and Ilaoa will get his chance.:ninja:

well isn't he still available? pretty sure we could have gotten either of them after the draft...if so, i guess we will just have a draft class full of hawaiians

I was almost thinking that happened yesterday, when we took ginn over quinn I thought mueller said or wrote the wrong name lol thats the only explanation I could come up with at the time, but this would really not surprise me, but how can that happen?

No. We drafted him as a FB, we didnt want another RB.

We called him before the pick and discussed his role with the team, as a pure blocking FB. Ths was our guy.

With the way this staff handled the draft this year I would not be the least bit surprised to find out that we drafted the wrong player :(

If we didn't take booker with the 3rd round roudner then i might think it were possible, but we wouldnt have drafted 2 RB's in the draft, that would just be stupid.

We needed a FB, we got a FB.

The guy on Foxsports.com who questioned whether we meant to take Nate Ilaoa was kidding...but I wish he wasn't. If Wannstedt was still in charge I could see it happening, but Mueller knew what he was doing, he just didn't know that it was a waste of a pick.

I consider myself a pretty avid college football/draft fan and this is the first I've ever heard of the guy. This is a classic case of a "Who???" pick that I have no doubt would have been available to us in the 7th, if not a UDFA.

Think of him as Turner in San Diego. The guy that springs L.Tomlinson.
Understand now?
