Middlebrooks, a former 49ers first-round pick, has been shopped in trade conversations for the past couple of months. There was some interest by the Miami Dolphins, but the 49ers heated up their interest in the past couple of days.

:confused: I don't get the thinking behind that one. We don't need another extremely average corner. We have two already in Mario Edwards and Reggie Howard.

Just let Travis Daniels start, get his experience, and develop into a very good corner, which he will.

I believe ESPN made a mistake. Willie Middlebrooks was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the first round in 2001, not the 49ers. DD28 is right. Have Travis Daniels start oppoiste Sam Madison in the secondary.

Hence the title "DID we just try to get Willie Middlebrooks."

I saw that line about us being interested after the article that he was traded came out. I know he was traded. I was commenting on the fact that we had some interest.

I think we'd have interest in the Miami native at safety rather than CB (he's played there). But he's not much of a ballhawk. I've got as many career INTs as he does.

It'd still be leery for two other reasons....

News4colorado.com reports the trial of Denver Broncos CB Willie Middlebrooks has been postponed until July. He was expected to be in court Monday, May 23 to face charges he beat his girlfriend on New Year's Day. The reason for the delay is not known.

i agree we should let daniels start, but on the other hand its a big risk, as a rookie being drafted in the 4th, i think it could work out nice but we'll see

I think Daniels is more NFL ready than a lot of us realised. guys like Nick and Kirk Ferentz at Iowa prepared their players for the big time.

The same can be said about Will Poole last year. He didnt have to start but if he did then I feel he would have put up decent numbers.
