Just saw on ESPN, that Jake Long is now the HIGHEST PAID Linemen in THE NFL

Why are we overpaying that much for an unprooven rookie? Top draft picks should not be making this much money, kind of ridiculous if you ask me. Over 10 million a dollars per year? jesus.

Could be worse. We could be paying him more than Jamarcus Russell. Jake Long is signed, sealed, and delivered. That's all that matters. The money comes with the territory, until the NFL changes the system.

Yes, Long is overpaid. But that's a result of the botched rookie salary structure and was inevitable. Fortunately, the Dolphins have the cap room that this won't be much of an issue in the near future.

We had no choice. That is why there should be a rookie pay scale so contracts like this don't happen. Miami didn't overpay for the fact that anybody that is selected by any team is going to recieve that much money.

He's the number 1 pick and an important asset to the team for years. No, i don't think he's overpaid.

I just think its insane, to pay a player, more money then ANY offensive linemen in the LEAGUE....when that player hasnt even played a SINGLE game in the NFL.

Crazy...

You got that right. Jake actually signed for less than what Jamarcus received last year so if anything, the whole league should thank Tuna for retrograding the rookie salaries this year because every team goes off of what the #1 pick pays.

I hate the current system as much as anyone, but any pick taken number one overall had a price tag on him. You can either pay it, or leave him on the shelf.

Of course it is. That is why we need to adopt the NBA Philosophy of drafting

Draft picks and what you have to pay them is hardly a democratic issue your stuck with the system called communism you have to pay by the rules and have no voice in the matter. I agree we paid to much but would have paid too much at any position.

Thats what happens to teams that go 1-15
you end up with the number 1 pick which in reality should be a blessing but could very well be a curse.

The way the league has it's salary structure is so idiotic I don't know where to begin.Unfortunatly we had to pay the #1 draft pick #1 money but this could be the start of something great here in Miami so lets not dwell on the money, lets stand behind all our draft picks like true fans should do!!
