If not then lock the thread :).

BUT if we did, who lined up where? Did you get a little shiver of excitement when you seen it? Did we blitz out of it?

Thank You

No. The Dolphins never ran the 3-4.

The very first play of the game could be considered a 3-4

Saban's version of the 3-4 is not as free as Belichek's or Cowher's....meaning the 4 LB's dont roam as freely as they would in other defenses....Madden players who run the 4-3 can compare it to the package "4-3 Over" where the Line Backers are closer to the line and they drop bank into coverage or they blitz the QB,

so i said all of that to say that you might not have seen it but there were several times where when there were it looked like there only two line backers and 5 men on the line....there were two of them not lined up in a lineman's stance

There were 4 Dlineman, but one was a Lb. All were on the line. It's actually a 5-2

Saban himself calls it a 5-2.

By having 5 men up front, they can further the confusion by rushing a Lb, and drop a lineman into coverage.

That's a very good description. The backup unit ran many plays with a noseguard and only two other down linemen, each split a good distance from the noseguard. But it was hardly a pure 3-4 since there were also two defenders tightly flanking the two outer linemen, not in a down stance but on the line of scrimmage, and hardly undersized OLB types.

Where does Saban call his defense a 5-2?

And just so I understand, are you saying that it is a 5-2 or 3-4?

It ended up a 3-4 because JT slipped into a zone coverage. I'm pretty sure it was the first play.

He said it three or four times in his press conferences when reporters kept egging him on about using a 3-4. He tried to tell them that he has never used a 3-4, but they would see a lot of 5-2, and the base defense would be 4-3.

The 4-3 over has the Lb's up closer to the line, but the 5-2 keeps the MLB back. Check the tape on the game. Zach was back, and at the snap the two Lb's dropped back, and Zach blitzed.

Uhh, yes. The Dolphins have used the 3-4 several times over the past few games. Watch the tape. 3 down linemen, four linebackers including Jason Taylor in a 2 point stance.

Remeber the second team line up with three down and two lb's lined up on the line outside of the DE in two point stances. So yeah it kinda is a 5-2 look.

listening to the game the jaguars commentators mentioned seeing a 3-4, one time after a sack, dont remember who got the sack but i remember it was after a sack saying it came from the 3-4
