Did you know...?

You have got to respect this guy so much. He's played through all these injuries, he's had 3 toes cut off, and he's still playing only for the love of the game. TimBo is the TRUE team player in my book. He's entering his 12 season, no one would blame him the slightest bit if he would have retired this season yet he keeps on going and restructured his contract because he cares more about playing and helping the team and not the money. He truly LOVES the game, and there's a reason why he's the longest active Dolphin (since 94). I really hope he gets to see the field this year.

I knew it and have loved Timbo cuz I had an accident with my foot when I was really young, and I am missing a toe, so I have always loved Bowens b/c the fact we are both missing toes.

I would think that he has prosthetics in place... maybe not, but I couldn't imagine him not, if they would help.

Not sure there is such a thing but a presthetic foot yes. Usualy all you need for balance is your big toe. the rest are evolving off believe it or not.

That Tim Bowens is missing 3 toes on his left foot due to a lawnmower accident???

Its unbelievable he can play DT as well as he has without them. Im just imagining how important your toes would be for a DT who routinely has to dig in and drive to hold on the line. Thats amazing...

Yep, I remember hearing that when we drafted him. Hasn't ever seemed to effect him at all. If it has effected him, imagine how good he'd be if it hadn't happened. Timbo is the man and a class act. You gotta love the guy and his drive.

Where did you hear that?? I wonder is sneakers are going to be cheaper if people start walking around with only one toe.

If you talked to most NFL defensive tackles later in their careers, the thought of having a few toes lopped off would be tempting. The extreme weight and force bending toe joints sharply back results in painful, nearly crippling arthritis, joint calcification and the complete breakdown of the bursa that cushions and lubricates the joint.

Now if TimBo was an Olympic figure skater, I'd be more impressed.;) This skater's mom used to be my secretary:

When she was three years old, a lawn mower accident claimed two toes of Elaine Zayak's right foot. As a sport of balance, skating seemed an appropriate way for young Elaine to deal with the walking problems caused by the injury. The therapy worked beyond anyone's expectations, and Elaine excelled at her new sport, though not by doing what everyone else had done. Following the example of four-time U.S. Champion Linda Fratianne, whose ability to land triple jumps had placed her among the leaders of women skaters, Zayak made jumping her strength and used it to great effect. At thirteen, she won both the World and US. Junior championships, and at fourteen, she finished fourth as a senior at the 1980 U.S. Championships.

In 1981, Zayak won the U.S. title and finished second at the World Championships. A year later, while still only sixteen, she defeated Katarina Witt for the World Championship at Copenhagen. Though such an accomplishment was remarkable at Zayak's age, it was how she won that made the most news. Zayak landed six triples in her free skate, a record at that point for ladies' skating.

Isn't Bowens the last Shula player on the Dolphins?

Yup. It will be a sad day when he finally hangs it up, but what a great career. A true class act, and always one of my favorite players on the team.

Does anyone know if it is his right foot or left?
