That was just an awesome domination by 1 player last night. It's been awhile since I've seen a defensive player take a game over like that. We can talk all we want about Zach and JT but let's get real guys - they can't take a game over anywhere close to that. We are paying them the money as if they can and they have been the heart of this D for so long but is the goal to be good or great. That defintely woke me up to see that we will not get there with the group of vets that we have. Urlacher was a monster in the middle - he was taking on OL blocks and standing them up and making the tackle. No way in the world can ZT do that - he is too small. He plays hard and does a good job but if you want a dominant D you have to have a monster on the D side.

Could Crowder fill that role? He is big enough and fast enough and they say smart enough. Will we ever give him a shot?

Crowder is a player. He has played well since we drafted him last year. He was flying around on every play last week.

Our team has bright spots, but they totally lack confidence or any killer instinct.

"First of all they weren't blocking me, so that was easy" Urlacher said.

Don't get your panties so wet about Urlacher, the Cardinals were just as responsible for his "awesome domination" as he was. Also, he didn't look very dominating for the first three quarters.....:shakeno:

Obviously you have only seen the dolphins play this year. I remember in 2002 JT destroy the Raiders in Miami. That the year the raiders made it to the superbowl. JT was unstopable in that game and took control from beginning to end.

plus.. just as players have bad games sometimes they have a great game.. things just worked out for him lastnight..

I saw him take on an offensive lineman straight on, he tossed him to the side and made the tackle pushing the offensive player backwards... I am not knocking zach(well i am) but there is no way he could do that.

I think he deserves more credit than that. That whole team was down and flat, it was #54 that got them going.

I still can't believe the cardinals managed to give that game away. It's like they expected to lose and couldn't handle the pressure. The O-line kept getting called for false starts at crucial times.

Leinart was very impressive though.

A simple statistical comparison of Zach Thomas and Brian Urlacher will squash this notion that Urlacher is superior to Thomas. If Thomas has such a hard time fending off blockers because he's so small, why has he consistently earned more tackles than Urlacher? Heck, he's got more right now! Even with Urlacher's "dominance".

Thomas has been healthier and more consistent for a longer period of time. The only meaningful stat that Urlacher has on Thomas is sacks... and neither of them have one this year.

Don't mistake being in the right place at the right time for a strip as being proof that Urlacher is just head and shoulders above Thomas. Sure, Urlacher is a good poster-boy for NFL linebackers... he's tough, he's got a cute little picture of barbed-wire on his arm, but I'll take consistentcy anyday of the week.

Defensive players who can take over a game like that are far and few between. Lets not kid ourselves into thinking every other team in the NFL has one except for us. I'd even go as far to say that not even every good team has one. We need to play good team defense and our coaching staff needs to put the players we do have, lousy or good, in the best possible situation for success. I'm no coach but from what I've seen blitzing on every big 3rd down play is not that. Allowing a team to get your 3rd corner or strong safety singled up with their best WR is also not that. The coaching staff needs to tweak their philosophy or the secondary will get it done. It's easy to balme the players but we all knew they are what they are. Only better scheming and caoching will improve their play.

I like Zach, but if you'd prefer him to Urlacher then your off your rocker...

I agree to a certain extent. I'm going to bring the holy grail of LB's into this arguement. When Ray Lewis had Siragusa and Sam Adams in front of him he was the all the force that the Ray Lewis legend states he was. Once he lost those 2 guys, he wasn't. In fact he ran into all kinds of health issues as well as being easily blocked. How many times did we hear, poor Ray Lew just doesn't have the horses in front of him???? I seem to remember hearing that a lot. Yet in 2004 when Zack Thomas had Bryan Robinson and Jeff Zgonina in front of him and still led the team in tackles as usual he just wasn't that good. Why do all other elite LB's get all of the excuses in the world when they decline while Zach Thomas just gets the criticism?????

LOL great urlacher quote!

The Cardinals blew it. One of THE biggest chokes in NFL history ... no doubt about it. They were up 20-0 at the half. Leinart was kicking a$$ the whole game ... especially the first half. He didn't lose it for them.

After all the good press he got last week going into the game, Chicago QB Rex Grossman had FOUR interceptions, fumbled TWICE, had a 37.8% Comp% and a 10.7 Passer Rating ... that's not a typo ... a 10.7 Passer Rating. That's about as bad as it ever gets. Leinart had a 57.2% Comp%, 2 TDs and an 88.6 Passer Rating.

The Bears didn't even make one touchdown (or even a field goal if I recall) ... and the Cardinals STILL somehow found a way to lose this one. I couldn't believe it. Strangest game I've seen in a while. The Cardinals SHOULD have blown them out. They flat out dominated and manhandled the 5-0 Bears in the 1st half ... one of the best teams in the NFL according to most NFL sports writers ... these Bears were supposed to be as good as the 1985 Bears, etc.

Seems to me that the Cardinals just needed to eat up clock, make a decent number of first downs somehow (passing I guess) and tee off on Grossman defensively to win the game. One thing is clear, the Cardinals are fairly adequate in pass protection and cannot RUN BLOCK very well at all. The offensive line has some similarities with our line this year.

I will give our offensive line some kudos this week. They DID do better run blocking and pass protecting in the Jets game ... except in crucial situations like 3rd and short and in the red zone. We can't seem to score touchdowns. We can get to third base but we can't seem to get to friggin home plate for some damn reason! It's frustrating. It's enough to make anyone want to rant about it. :tantrum: :oldman:

The Dolphins offense needs to SCORE POINTS. SCORE TOUCHDOWNS. DON'T GIVE UP EASY TOUCHDOWNS ON PASS PLAYS ON DEFENSE. PERIOD. :redx2:
