In 2006 we were in a similar situation as yours no.
We were a team coming off a horrible season in 05, new coach, new gm, and very low expectations.
Then the season starts we start playing great, get our expectatins high, and would never even think about lowering them. Not because we were that bad a year ago, we werent supposed to make it to the playoffs that year the way we were playing. We would not be staisfied with just contending and not making it !! we were determined.
Instead i read here a lot of you guys syaing.. oh this is a great team, it dont matter if we dont make the playoffs we played hard and exceeded expectation, we have a great future....etc
The nfl its about now! you never know what can happen next year, this year you have a team that can make the playoffs, do not be satisfied with less
And thats pretty much it, the difference between the JETS and the dolphins i believe
 
difference between the Jets and Dolphins...

1) 8-3 and 6-5
2) 2 games
 
Let's see.... They actually RUN the ball. Their defense can actually "defend."

That is about all.
 
another difference is that historically the jets quite often come off a horrible season!!
 
The mentality comes from having Pro-Bowl caliber players at many key positions. Free agency was there friend this past off season.
 
You're absolutely right. I always tell these fans that are satisfied with "competing" WHAT THE Fu*K DOES LAST YEAR HAVE TO DO WITH THIS YEAR? So what if you expected a 5-8 or would be more than happy with a 8-8 record. You know what? I'd be happy with a playoff win. Why not us?

Well I'll tell you this, if the Jets win the Superbowl this year I'll straight eat my shorts kid. I really have no worries. :up:
 
yea but if the jets dont win the super bowl this year wich you wont becuase bret farve will blow it for you in an important game its what he does. then if he decided to retire you will be screwed beaucse many of you good player arent young and they are over paid you will run in to cap trouble and since your top picks over the past few have been crap except for revis you team will be garbage.
To sacerfice 4 to 5 years for one is a joke

I don't know if you know this, but a fan's mindset has nothing to do with a player's mindset nor will it affect how they play.
 
I think youre talking about differences in the fans, not the teams. And I would tend to agree that I see alot of LAME phins fans. Their mentality is WEAK.

I don't undertand how the mentality of fans on this message board have anything to do with the coaching staff and players?

You think the coaches and players are satisfied already? I seriously doubt that. I think all of us know the fins could make the playoffs this year, but realistic fans expected 5 or 6 wins.
