I don't think Philbin had a chance to make a decision on whether or not to keep Nolan.

Nolan signed with Atlanta (January 17th) before Philbin became head coach of the Dolphins (January 20th).

I was watching & did wonder about that though. As they are talking well before those signings & getting their jobs/people lined up well ahead of time.

Usually a NEW Coach wants to establish 100% authority with the organization & players by hiring his guys.

Truth be told we never really know, they keep that a secret. Nolan could have wanted to leave for a 100 reasons not related to Philbin or the Dolphins. ... or it could have been Philbins call.

As poorly as the Dolphins have been doing ... I was very disappointed!! Hoped he'd stay a couple years until things were solidified!!
