I remember reading all these posts in the past regarding our salary situation for next year. Almost every single one stated something about being 20-25 million under the cap for the upcoming season. Now I'm starting to hear things about us being one of 8 teams over the cap by 6 million dollars. I realize that cuts are upcoming and contracts can be re-structed. But after all that is done... are we really going to free up enough space to sign big-name free agents and drafted players??

thats why the CBA needs to get it in gear so we can know what the deal is with our cap, because if not, alot of contracts will only be one season and will totally count against the cap this year...remember that most of the caps are backloaded, in which the majority of the money a player makes is in the back end of the contract...but with reports from our GM it should be 12-15

Thats with us cutting:
Tebucky Jones
Damien Macintosh
Sam Madison
Reggie Howard
Marty Booker
Jeno James
Junior Seau

Restructure:
Jason Taylor
Zach Thomas

And
Frerotte misses 2 games so his contract doesnt "baloon"

Cutting Tebuck Jones alone saves us roughly 6 million I think. Seau is likely gone and he was 2 million I think, so right there thats 8 million in saving. Oh yeah lets not forget that Reggie Howard is gone and I think that saves us like 4 million. We can also restructure Mciontosh and Frerotte. We should be money!

No need to fret over the numbers. Mueller was the one who was quoted that we can be $20-$25 million under the cap with a few moves and an anticipated rise in the salary cap. Mueller is our #s man, if he say it can be done; than more than likely it can. I'm sure he has all the scenarios worked out to get us close to those numbers.

We're are not cutting M.Booker, and James seems unlikely.

James is a question mark. He is being paid more than he is worth. I'd like to keep him around, but not at his current price. Not to mention Houck turns nobodies into somebodies, we may not need to invest too much money into the offensive line.

brees, lecharles bentley, ty law. everything else is in the draft.
terrel owens would be nice too.
