Was listening to Joe Rose this morning and Alex Marvez (another well known Dolphin hater and former beat writer) said that the staff is concerned about Dion Jordan's work ethic. That he hasn't really focused on building muscle or worked on his craft. He has yet to contact Jason Taylor, who has made himself available, to pick his brain and work on his craft. Marvez said something about the staff having concerns about how Jordan spends his time and some of the people he socializes with.

Anybody else catch the interview this morning?

interesting, I wonder why there hasn't been a lot more stories on this? I know there has been some here and there but you think with the position he was picked at this woulda been a lot bigger of a story. Maybe philbin wasn't wrong on this like a lot think, including myself

Look at some pictures of Jordan, he doesn't lack muscle.

He has a thin, lithe and high cut frame that's spread over his 6-6 height, look at how high and thin his waist is. That high center of gravity is doing him no favors against the athletic OTs of the NFL- the coaches need to stop trying to put the square peg in the round hole and move Jordan to where he belongs, OLB. If they use him correctly in a joker role he should be on the LOS with a hand down a decent amount of plays, but given his weight issues, high cut/center of gravity issues, speed, quickness and ability top play in space, MOVE THE GUY TO LINEBACKER. I don't even want to think about Miami trading him for under market value and then the Eagles or some other team using him correctly and turning him into a stud player.

Also, consider this- we now have serious issues at OT and DT- if we would have stayed put in last year's draft we could have had DT Star Lotulelei at #12 and OT Menelik Watson at #42. We paid a VERY high price for Jordan form that perspective, the least that we can do is get him to the right position and maximize his potential.

Personally I don't think it would be a horrible idea to trade the kid to Philly for their 1st rounder and one of those decent back up OTs they have on their roster.

if he can't add weight 43 de will never work...he's a 34 olb...stupid dolphins scouts

This is bad news if true. I hadn't heard these character things about Jordan before. Hopefully he can get mentored by someone. He needs to be committed.

Dion Jordans character has never been questioned before. I'm going to guess Alex Marvez is just talking out of his ass for the sake of making a show.

Agreed. Wasn't it sometime after the Super Bowl that Jordan said he knows he needs to work harder, etc...?

This is yet another example of a media putz trying to create controversy & a possible story.

Jason Taylor had a near identical body size (Jordan is a little bigger) but had incredible natural strength for his weight. Dion Jordan can get bigger and stronger, but it doesn't mean that he will have the same level of success that JT had. Ireland was usually very conservative and risk averse in his drafting, so it is interesting that he was prepared to gamble so big to move up and acquire Jordan.
Dion can still be everything that we hope he will be. He is blessed with a freaky body. I wouldn't be rushing to give up on him, he still has enormous upside. We just need to learn how to use him better. I'm surprised by the Marvez criticism of the people he associates with, this sounds like code for a slur. Everything I had heard is that Dion's extremely high character and very popular.

That's what I was thinking when I was listening to it. I just wanted to know if anyone caught it.

I highly doubt Dion Jordan becomes Jason Taylor. But I think he could be a very effective OLB in the 4-3 with his size/length and speed combo. Put him on the tight end side, let him fall into coverage and blitz 5 or 6 times a game. Cripes, he couldn't be as bad as Phillip Wheeler was last year.

Everyone knew Dion Jordan was a great 34 OLB prospect. Everyone knew he had a shoulder injury and wouldn't be ready for training camp etc. Everyone knew he lacked mass, pass rush moves, and experience to play 43 DE. The guy has a great burst and if he ever learns to use his length he will be a great pass rusher. It s most disturbing that he hasn't developed more pass rush moves though ... because that's all work ethic, nothing more.

He spent the month of February training mma, perhaps that's why he didn't call Taylor
