Dion Jordan In His More Active Second Year....?

I'm kinda surprised of the attitude towards Jordan after just his rookie season. He's a 2nd year player with tons of upside, there's no need to be impatient yet. There are very few Von Miller-like rookie seasons. DE, like any position, takes 2-3 years to really develop.

He is a hybrid LB best fit for multiple sets and 3-4, we needed impact to move into the top 5 not a project. I love Jordan but he can not play with his hand in the dirt. Throw in Ellerbe and Misi and we have 3/4's of a 3-4 LB core yet we play 4-3 smh. Von Miller stands up mostly as well however they play a ton of 4-3 under and over allowing him to stand up at the LOS and rush the passer. That may be some of what is needed here.

Because fans are typically fickle and want guys to be All Stars day one and don't understand that players who are drafted and not ideal for the scheme the team runs and are forced to switch positions may take some time to develop.

I think the impatience comes from how we acquired Jordan as much as from his lack of play. Despite numerous holes and needs, we gave up a 2nd round pick to move up to grab Jordan, a guy who plays a position that wasn't a need but was in fact a strength. When a team makes a move like that, you expect to get an impact player who's going to make an immediate difference. You expect you're getting a guy who is clearly better than what we already have and a guy who is going to start every game and play the majority of downs. Jordan has fallen way short of being that player. At this point, it feels like we gave up that 2nd round pick to draft a project. That bothers people, myself included.

Change to a 3-4 and he'd be an impact player(OLB). Watching play DE in a 4-3 is like watching Manute Bol play C in the NBA. Just too light in the shorts to be a dormant player every possession er snap.

Changing LB coaching was damn good first step scheme, now finish it and flip to a 3-4.

He was told after he was drafted he wouldn't play much! Why do you people seem to not grasp this, I have no clue!

I agree, but I can't blame Jordan for Ireland's idiocy....Hell I would have loved to stayed at 12 and traded that second rounder for Albert last off-season, but that didn't happen. I still recognize the talent and potential of Jordan and feel he can develop into a game changer under Rodgers....

I think many forget he came to the team late due to when oregon's semester ended and wasn't able to fully participate until deep into camp...a full offseason could and should make a big difference.

Great coaches change their system to maximize their talent. Mediocre coaches try to change their talent to fit their system. What does this tell us about Philbin and Coyle???
