Amid rumors (so far unfounded and as I previously reported untrue) that the Dolphins are either shopping or willing to trade Dion Jordan, the player who is the hope of the team's pass rush in the future is taking his current status seriously.

Jordan, according to Joe Philbin, showed up at the team's training facility "a couple of weeks ago," the Dolphins coach told the team's in-house website Tuesday, to begin training for the 2014 season. The majority of the rest of the team showed up Monday for offseason conditioning and strength training.
So the fact we are three months from the start of training camp and slightly more than six months before the start of the season and Jordan is already pushing to get better is great news. It speaks to his work ethic and his realization that better things must come in 2014.

He'd better take things seriously. If he doesn't Hickey might sign another punter to push him at the number 4 defensive end spot. [Yes, that was his roster position in middle of the season last year -- number 3 pick in the draft and he couldn't get on the field because three other guys were ahead of him in the rotation.] Thank you again Jeff Ireland. :shakeno:

He should work hard
actually rookies should be given very little guaranteed money. football and guaranteed money do not mix. i guess in reality UDFA's "should" work hard, oh wait they do

Damn dude, he was a rookie and needed time to adjust to the pro game. He wasn't the only 1st rnd pick on the bench. Kid is a freak of nature athletically and if he has been working out for weeks now in the training facility I can only imagine he will be bigger, faster, stronger. I personally love Dion Jordan and can't wait for this year. All I'm saying is relax and wait and see before criticizing.

I love how people on this board already think he sucks after just 1 season playing a position he never played before

Microwave mentality.

The guy is the real deal.

Good to here he has some great work ethic. Now we just have to hope he plays great. He showed soild promise in the small glimpses we saw last year so I am hopeful. Hopefully a healthy offseason and a full one with the team benefits him drastically.

Get 'em Dion, show 'em why you were picked no. 3 last year.

Well that trade rumor might have gotten him fired-up. Good for him. We need him to become a presence this year.

So they don't know anything because he only played 1 year and out of position, but you somehow know he's the real deal already? Sounds legit.

For me it'll only be a "great work ethic" if it's persistent and he's out on that field next year actually making plays instead of sitting on the bench and/or nursing lingering injuries.

Otherwise this article is just another one of those feel-good reports fed to the fans. I can't even count how many of these I've seen in my near 30 years of fanhood.

Well the great work ethic has to start somewhere. He obviously wasn't happy with something last seaso leading to him get back hitting the weights and training so early.

As I see it, he doesn't really have a choice after a season like that. It's more reality than work ethic at this point. That's why I was saying I want to see it from him throughout 2014.
