hello im new to finheaven but im not going to be scared to voice my opinion seriously the dolphins pretty much screwed over daunte and im realy disappointed with the route they chose to deal him. Daunte wanted his fair chance to do this i spersonally with him since hes my neighbor and im discusted. why didnt they get rid of him during the prime of free agency?? seriously im discusted... they screwed him over and im a huge dolphin fan and i dont think we deserve a pick for him.. the way he waved bye to the fans go me choked up he came over to the vip section and spoke with me.. hes like damn man now what... i will have close connections with him for the rest of his career.. he told me the real story behind all this.. they told him not to come out to practice and they would say it was for personal reasons... I hope he goes to an nfc team and tears up the leauge.. well noce to meet you all... let me know how you feel. and for all you haters saying daunte sucks your wrong he can throw and he can finally run hes fully healed.. long live daunte...:D

They didnt get rid of him during the prime of free agency because they didnt have his replacement yet.
I dont think he was treated poorly. He got a ton of money and contributed nothing. Maybe he will return to form, maybe not. But the new head coach wanted a different direction so he drafted a QB and got an experienced vet who he felt was more suited to the style of offense the Phins will be playing. The other QB on the roster, Lemon, is healthy, less expensive, and more familiar with Cameron's offense. Daunte was simply the odd man out.
Im glad you are friends with him and I hope you are able to remain close after he leaves. But, I do agree that its for the best that he DOES leave.

By the way, Welcome to Finheaven

well like you just said he didnt fit the offense so why even keep him on the roster??

I don't hate CPep. I really do wish him luck. I hope he returns to his old form, or at least close to it.
I just think this was a business decision.
Both sides have to do what they think is best for themselfs.
BTW. Welcome. I'm fairly new to the forum myself. It's addicting.

I have nothing against Daunte. But, please stop feeling bad for this guy. He basically got more money than most people will see in a lifetime for doing nothing. He rehabbed on the Dolphins dollar.

I mean really? How many other jobs can you get full pay for sitting a year and then complain they treated you badly. Only in the NFL.

Daunte will tear up the league this yr.. and the dolphins will be sorry

Thats a poor way to look at it.
You think he wanted to sit the pine?
He worked to get healthy and play.
All he wanted was a chance.
He never got it.
The trainers looked at himmand said the knee would heal in time for his 1st season with the dolphins.
They knew what they where getting.
the knee did not and the guy tried to get back onto the feild
he was told by the current staff that he would get the chance to compete for the starting spot
then they screwed the guy over when all teams are set with their rosters.
That is such a shame that they would do what they did
I understand it is a business
but let the guy go at this point and let him at least try to catch on with a team of his choice
I do feel bad for the guy
I think he really had the idea that he would get a chance
and he didn't
and the thing that makes the situation real bad is that he is his own agent and he never saw what happened to him coming.
I really was liking the things tha the front office was doing but this is a true shame.
Let the guy go

This isn't news. It's more opinions. :confused::tantrum::rolleyes2

its a little bit of both its news beacus i have the "real story" and its my opinion lol u people like to look at the itty bitty details

Because like I said...they did not have his replacement yet. If they had let him go earlier it would have strengthened KCs position. They would demand more knowing that we only had Beck and Lemon. We end up paying more, or perhaps don't get Green at all. Basically, even though Daunte wasnt perfect for the new offense, he was better than nothing, and also served to strengthen our bargaining position (only slightly though, due to his slow rehab)
Once Green was signed, all the reasons to keep Culpepper evaporated.

Maybe this logic seems cold...but the NFL is a business. Its Cameron and Muellers responsibility to first do whats best for the team ...before considering what might best suit an individual player. They feel that its best to go another direction at QB. However, they wouldnt be doing their jobs if they put the Phins in the position of potentially having no starting caliber QB, just so that they could give Daunte a few extra months to find another team. They also would not be doing their jobs if they didnt at least try to recoup some of Daunte's cost, hence the refusal so far to give him his outright release.

the dolphins have screwed a few of their former players... oronde, oj,

I could care less how they treated him actually. Look at how he's treating the team!!! He's been paid top money to sit on his butt for over a year. The team spent a 2nd round pick on him. Gave him a new contract, and now there is a new Coach. Now he's nixing any chance for this team to get anything for him.

Oh and the reason he could not be dealt was because he was injured, and not cleared by doctors to play. What team was going to want him?

Screw this crybaby. He whinned his way out of Minnesota, and now he's doing even worse here. Making sure this team gets nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing for a 2nd and lots of cash....

How did they screw Orande? By taking a chance on him out of a league that no one ever sees, and giving him a nice contract at one point?

please!

Daunte's got his press agents (read family and friends) working full time.
