It all starts up front. If the offense has any chance of success this season the Oline needs to play good. How can we expect Henne to improve if he has no time? How can we expect our RB's to perform when they never have before if we dont open holes. The Oline didnt play well this preseason so how can we be confidant they will play well when it counts. Jake Long is only 1 piece he cant help the right side out. What quality backups do we have? Even if our starters play well somebody is bound to get hurt and who will come in to help the unit? We have no depth and as far as Im concerned no talent on the right side. Veterans are released and we sign nobody. our #1 backup at tackle gets hurt and we do nothing but sign a practice squad guy. I think the rest of our team is good and should be competetive however I think our Oline sucks and we will pay dearly for it.

Yeah I know our backups did great last year so I have tons of confidence in them this year. I need to see it to believe it. That is just how it is I hope they prove me wrong I would like nothing more than that. That remains to be seen though.

Please name one running back on this football team that ever ran between the tackles in college or the Pro's. There is none.

I have NEVER seen so much reaction in my life.

Its not like the FO isnt trying. It's not like all-pro lineman are out there just ready to be traded...its not Madden folks, it just isnt.

We have Long.

Incognito was very good last year actually, even if nobody wants to rewatch tape but just prefer to pound that idea into the ground.

We have one of the better backups in Berger.
Nate Garner, if he could stay healthy.
Vern would still be solid if he lost 60 lbs (Coaches can only do soooo damn much)
John Jerry looked good...and then all of a sudden...not so much.
They have been drafting 3-6 lineman each year.
They spent another 1st rounder this year, and it looks like it might pan out, but who freakin knows.

Keep in mind, the Golden boys in New England don't have a very good O-line right now either. Its just not that damn easy...in fact, I am beginning to think its actually tougher to project a frontline coming out of college than it is a QB

I understand some frustration, but folks, its not as easy as some of you make it out to be. It just isnt like a video game.

Long will be huge once he comes back
Incognito is serviceable
Pouncey will improve as the year goes...though I think they should have started him at guard

The issue is the right side of the line...Columbo is playing on one leg and Carey is miscast as a guard (though I thought it was a good idea at first).

The team should have signed Gurode or Waters (like the Ravens and Pats have done). In doing so they could have kicked Carey back to RT, Cut Columbo and got more effective play from the interior.

They have confidence in this line...lets see what happens a week from today.

Well according to FH running backs are suppose to magically move the defensive line themselves with magic, they're suppose to perform whether the offensive line is good or not. Oh and don't try to argue with them they will use Barry Sanders and the Detroit offensive line as their defense saying that's just excuses.

Ravens did sign Gurode? That REALLY sucks. I agree that would've been ideal. Let Pouncey play LG till he's ready to go to Center
Gurode can play either as he started out as a guard.
Pouncey fits the Prototypical LG MUCH better than Rotten Richie, and would have Jake next to him, which instantly makes any rookie look better.
Rotten Richie (Who did play pretty damn good last year) could go to the Right side...and we still need a RT, but the situation I outlined would be a VERY solid start.
As it stands, I am almost hoping they do this:
Long-LT
Pouncey-LG
Berger-C
Incognito-RG
Fat Vernon/Murtha/Garner RT.

Where ya been the last 3 years??

We've all gotten used to weak, disgusting O-Lines. Tuna started it, & Fluffy Sparano talks fluff-excuses about them EVERY year & fixes nothing. Puts on Dallas retreads every time there's a blow-out!!

On a positive note ... our O-Line gets better every off-season ... quite a few threads this summer had our O-Line #6 last year & improving to #3 or so ... and backing it up with stats & typical rationalization. Don't worry, our O-Line will be Top 10 by next July!!

Uh....speaking of Jake Long, is he actually good to go?

I'd like to think that our OL will be OK at least from LT to C, but really, we haven't heard much about Jake and I uh....well, don't really want to think about the worst.

If none of them ever have they sure as hell arent going to start now with a line that cant open holes.
