Disrespected Dolphins

As long as Pennington isn't turning the football over....Miami should literally be in every single football game.......at least, as long as the secondary is improved and there are no games similar to last year's Arizona game...and second matchup against New England...etc..

I don't think 7 is that outrageous of an over/under...considering the schedule they face....

Basically, you either think they're a .500 team or you don't....

Why should Miami get anymore respect than that? Did Miami deserve to have the over/under set at 5 heading into the 2008 season after winning just 1 game in 2007?

It proves the point that whatever happened the previous year means nothing the following season.....be it winning 1 game....or winning the division that became up for grabs in week 1 when the league's best player was lost for the season.....

If this team wasn't motivated heading into last season after winning just 1 game the previous season....then something was terribly wrong....

When Bill Parcells was hired last year....everyone was playing for their JOBS....

Now they get to call themselves the "division champs"......we'll see if they play like it...

There's a difference between playing out of DESPERATION....and playing out of DETERMINATION....

Last year was desperation......this year we'll see how determined they are...

Good read, I think the article kind of hit it right on the head why still are not getting the respect we deserve for our performance last year, I really dont care what they think because I am sure they did not watch every single game like I did last year and know our team much better than 99% of the media in Florida alone, however the article referes to Pennington.

I think Penny is not or has never recieved the credit he deserves. Many fail to realize that when Penny has been healthy, and yes I know that its not even half of his career, he takes his teams to the playoffs. I know some will refer to 07 when he lost his starting position to Clemens, however for those who are footgall fans you will know Penny tore ligaments in his ankle the first game of the season, thats not healthy. Anyways, when healthy he wins, weak arm and all. Penny has to prove something this year to not only the football fans and media but to himself and IMO I think he will. He is playing this season for the rest of his football career. If Penny has a really good season he is going to get a nice 3-4 year contract worth some money with some club, whether it be us or another. We all know Penny is a warrior, a class act, and very few have a greater desire to win. You add all that and then the part of him that is family and committed to his community. Its hard for a man like that to fail. I met this guy once at a function and in the few minutes I talk to him he appears to be genuinely a good guy, so ofcourse I want him to succeed. But in my experience people like this dont fail, they overcome, adapt and always find a way to succeed. I see this happening to Penny this year, as much as I would like Henne to be the next Marino I think I can wait to watch Penny succeed. And yes, success should come with a Super Bowl.

Painfully honest....I like it.

Chad Pennington is going to have a monster year; Dolphins management is not going to make a decision to bring in an untested player to take the place of a Pro Bowl caliber QB. I see Henne sitting again in 2010.

Dolphins 11-5 this season.

well according to johnathan kincaide the the pats are the only team in the afc east that will make it to the playoffs.

I guess if you listen to espn there is only three teams in the afc east and miami is not even a figment of their imagination.

while we are on this subject, why is it when other teams have injuires the media factors that in but when the dolphins have injuries its neve brought up ?

Because Dolphins don't have knees.

What injuries?

When you lose the quarterback who owns the single season record for TD passes (50)......3 time superbowl champion....2 time superbowl MVP....1 league MVP.....who also has the 4th highest QB rating in NFL history (92.9)......and holds the record for the longest consecutive games winning streak (21 straight wins spanning 2 seasons) in NFL history....

Who is Miami going to lose that's even remotely that significant?

I'm thinking a starting LG......a 6th round rookie draft pick, or a formerly undrafted 3rd year receiver with a whole pair of touchdowns doesn't quite measure up.....

Over/under is 7 games? I'll be placing my bet this weekend.

I really get upset when people say we got breaks and got a cupcake schedule. The entire AFC East had(with the exception of two games) the same schedule. The difference is, Miami won with that easy schedule. The Jets and Bills could not. What makes them think the Bills and Jets are going to have more success then the Dolphins against a tougher schedule? The Bills and Jets couldn't beat the easy teams, so how can they beat the tougher teams?

So what Brady got hurt? Its not like they got poor performance from their backup... QB is not the reason the Pats didnt make the playoffs last year. Its the golden age defense that screwed up their chances... And guess what, they're not getting any younger.

Not only that, I have never seen a 1-15 team who finished 15 games out of first place "take advantage" of one major injury to another team and an easy schedule. You don't move ahead of three division teams just because of those two reasons. The Dolphins had talent, good coaching and played sound football. It wasn't always pretty, but they got the job done. There is a reason why Miami had the biggest turnaround in NFL history, and it had nothing to do with Brady going down or an easy schedule. Why couldn't the Bills, who won 7 games in 2007, not win more then 7 in 2009? They also had the advantage of the Tom Brady injury and an easy schedule.

It is a shame that the media can't give Miami any credit. Mostly it is a shame because the media is going to have egg on their face at the end of the year when Miami proves them wrong again. Still though, they will probably find excuses why Miami won again instead of giving them credit.

i like it. last season they were playing out of desperation and this season they'll be playing for respect. the over-under is a joke considering the bills - a team we did indeed sweep - got a 7.5 and we got a 7. glad ethan touched on that. good article. thanks for posting it.
